Young Turks reach U-20 knockout stage

Turkish National U-20 team came back from behind to beat Australia 2-1 and advance to sweet sixteen in the FIFA's U-20 World Cup tournament.

The match played in Trabzon ,Avni Aker stadium and there were over ten thousand spectators in the stands.

It was kind of do or die match for Young Turks  !

After Australia score first in the 52th minute of the match...

Turkey woke up and two minutes later scored the equalizer goal..

Midfileder Hakan Calhanoglu  trapped the header pass from his team mate then strike the ball  far corner of the goal .

In the 87th  minute, Okay Yokuslu scored  the tournament of the the best goal!

From about 20 yards out he chip theh ball over Australia's keeper and scored beautiful goal.

With this win Turkey advance to last 16 round in the tournament.

 Young Turks will face France on Tuesday.

Slaven Bilic to Besiktas,Ersun Yanal to Fenerbahce

Two teams who are in trouble with UEFA, finally decided to hire their new coaches today.

Besiktas team will be coached by Slaven Bilic  and Fenerbahce's new coach will  be Ersun Yanal.

Bilic inked three year deal with Besiktas while Ersun Yanal  signed only one year deal !

Two of the teams early in the week,were banned by UEFA from European competitions

 Besiktas one year and Fenerbahce will be banned three years from going to Europe !

Both teams will appeal theh decision,,,,,,,,

Bilic was sacked by L. Moscow team this season.

He made a name for him self  during the Euro 2008 tournament with Croatia National team.

Ersun Yanal ,  left Eskisehirspor to come to Fenerbahce.

Ersun Yanal signing only one year deal is very interesting too..

Ersun Yanal , first time in his career will coach one of the Istanbul's  big three.\

UEFA BANNED BESIKTAS AND FENERBAHÇE

Besiktas one and Fenerbahce banned three years from all European competitions by UEFA .

The UEFA Control and Disciplinary Body (CDB) today announced its decisions following the disciplinary proceedings relating to Fenerbahçe SK (Turkey), Beşiktaş JK (Turkey), and FC Steaua Bucureşti (Romania).

 

The CDB carefully analysed the situation of both Fenerbahçe SK and Beşiktaş JK and has pronounced the following sanctions:

 

• Beşiktaş JK is not eligible to participate in the 2013/14 UEFA Europa League.

 

• Fenerbahçe SK is excluded from participating in the next three UEFA club competitions for which it would qualify, including the 2013/14 UEFA Champions League season. The ban for the third season is deferred for a probationary period of five years.

 

The CDB also carefully analysed the situation of FC Steaua Bucureşti and, taking into account certain mitigating circumstances, the following sanction has been imposed:

 

• FC Steaua Bucureşti is not eligible to participate in one UEFA club competition for which the club would otherwise qualify. This sanction is deferred for a probationary period of five years.

 

All clubs have the opportunity to appeal the decisions of the CDB to the UEFA Appeals Body.

 

Further, in relation to the individuals of the clubs involved in the cases of Fenerbahçe SK and Beşiktaş JK, the CDB decided that certain additional information will be collected in order to consider in further detail the different position of each of the individuals concerned.

Good Start for Young Turks in the FIFA U-20 World Cup

Turkey's "Young Turks" starts FIFA U-20 World Cup journey with comfortable win over  El Salvadore

Turkey's U-20 National team has comfortably won its first game FIFA Under-20 World Cup tournament that it hosts for the first time in its history. The Turkish players defeated easily 3-0  El Salvador  at Trabzon Avni Aker stadium.

Turkey's young talent Salih Uçan opened the score in the 9th minute after an assist of Cenk Şahin, scored two goals in the 46th and the 64th minutes. 

With the victory Young Turks has taken an early lead in the group B after Colombia and Australia drew 1-1 in the other game of the group earlier June 22. Turkey will play its next game against Colombia in Rize, Turkey.

Fenerbahce coach Aykut Kocaman resigns...

Aykut Kocaman, coach of  Fenerbahce, has resigned on Tuesday.

Acting President of  Fenerbahce FC  Abdullah Kigili on Wednesday said, " Aykut Kocaman has verbally resigned on Tuesday. We are awaiting his formal resignation letter today. Once we receive the official document, it will be accepted by the management."

"We will begin the search for a new coach," Kigili added.

Official resignation  letter by Aykut Kocaman has reached Fenerbahce and they accepted his resignation.

Fenerbahce win Turkish Cup

Fenerbahce won their sixth Turkish Cup by beating Trabzonspor thanks to an early goal of Moussa Sow.             
 

Fenerbahce lifted the Turkish Cup trophy  after defeating Trabzonspor  with a solitary goal by striker Moussa Sow in the season finale played in Ankara. Fenerbahce, runners-up in the league and semifinalists of UEFA’s Europa League competition, were on the top of the podium of the Turkish Cup for the second time in a row.


 Fenerbahce had also won the trophy last year, after 25 years of drought in the competition.

Trabzonspor, who struggled  in the league , were better side in the first minutes of the game with Olcan Adın coming very near to opening the score. However, it was Fenerbahce who found the net when Sow volleyed past the goalkeeper Onur Kıvrak an incisive pass from Mehmet Topal in the 9th minute.

Fenerbahce managed to hold off their rivals, especially during the second half and cruised to their sixth Cup glory.

Aykut Kocaman’s Fenerbahce also broke the record of the most official matches played by a Turkish team in a season, with 65 games.

Farewell to Inonu Stadium

66 years of adventure at Besiktas's  Inonu stadium ends on Saturday night with  a last home match this season for Besiktas.

A lot memories there,,,,,

Not only  for Besiktas fans, also , Fenerbahce and Galatasaray fans too....

Adventure started back in 1947,  when Besiktas host first ever match against Stockholm of Sweden team.

First goal was scored by Besiktas's honorary president Suleyman Seba then  player for Besiktas at  BJK Inonu stadium , originally  named that time the Dolmabahce stadium.

The stadium was inaugurated on May 19, 1947 by  second President of Turkey, Ismet Inonu  who was a die-hard fan of Besiktas.

 In 1952, the stadium was renamed as Mithat Pasa stadium....

Later on, named  the Inonu stadium in 1973.....

A lot of history happened there at Inonu stadium...

Galatasaray, Fenerbahce and Besiktas shared  the stadium for long time.....

Galatasaray's Metin Oktay scored the goal would go in to the world records, by ripping the goal nets with his goal.

Back in 1972, I never forget , my late dad who was Besiktas fan took me there for Besiktas match when I was young boy.

The Inonu stadium was iconic for Turkish soccer!

On Saturday night, Besiktas fans and Turkish soccer fans will watch their last match there...

The tickets for Saturday night match against Genclerbirligi sold out within a couple hours.

There was huge demand for tickets......

The Inonu stadium will be demolished and rebuild at same location.

The new stadium will be 40.000 seat stadium and the construction will finish in late 2014.

After Fenerbahce and Galatasaray, Besiktas soccer club will have a brand new stadium in Istanbul.

Until, 2014, it is uncertain where Besiktas soccer team will play their games in Istabul.

On Saturday, there will be a lot of sad faces in the stadium at the end of the match.

A lot of memories will come in front of our eyes , as we say good bye to Inonu stadium,

The new stadium project will start in June of this year.

So, enjoy watching tomorrow's match .....

A win, and who ever scores the last goal in the Inonu stadium ,will be remembered for long time.

Just like , first goal scorer , great Suleyman Seba , Besiktas's player who became president of the club later on and who is honorary president now.

A win for Besiktas , will even up points with Fenerbahce ,before Sunday derby match between Fenerbahce and Galatasaray!
