LET THE GAMES BEGIN!...Turkey's Top League takes a start this weekend.



Well, Turkish Football or Turkish soccer fans get ready for the marathon in the Turkish "SPOR TOTO" Super League new season which will take off on this coming Saturday..

Istanbul's big three will have a strong compition this year again from Anatolian teams in the league...

Last season's defending champions Bursaspor and Trabzonspor, looks like will be contenders for the top spot, this year.

Also, Gazinatepsor , Eskisehirspor and Kayserispor will make a strong standing in the league along with other teams in the league....

Besiktas is the king of the transfer season in Turkey....

Besiktas transfered Star players like Guti (from Real Madrid),Portuguese Quaresma (from Inter) and the world known coach Germain Schuster.

Also, Fenerbhace signed Miroslav Stoch (Chelsea), and Ankaragucu signed Stanislav Sestak (Bochum ) and Robert Vittek (Lille ).

Kayserispor also signed Jonathan Santana from Paraguay...

Well, Istanbul giants will have a though ride this year too..

After Bursaspor winning the Championship last season , Trabzonspor looks like a better team in the league this year...

But, with flash transfers, Besktas is the heavy contender in the league this season!

Frank Rijkaard's Galatasaray and Aykut Kocaman's Fenerbahce has not establish a good team just yet!

They are still in process of getting players while the other already done that!

Turkey beats Romania 2-0 with Guus Hiddink!



Guus Hiddink made a winning debut as Turkey coach on Wednesday, leading his team to a 2-0 victory over Romania in an international friendly.
Emre Belozoglu scored from a penalty kick in the 82nd minute, and Arda Turan extended the lead four minutes later.

"We have to improve in certain aspects of the game, but the second goal was a beauty," Hiddink told Kanalturk television.

A NEW NAME SPONSOR FOR TURKISH SUPER LEAGUE!

Well, we have to get use to this name from now on....

"SPOR TOTO TURKISH SUPER LEAGUE!"


It is the state-run(Turkish Government) sports betting company....

Very nice......

Now, we have a betting company runs by the Government is going to sponsor the Turkey's top league!


People will bet more now since the name of the Turkish Super League is sponsored by Betting company called "SPOR -TOTO"


The betting company commercials were all over the radios and TV's and news papers now we will say their name every time when we talk about Turkish Super league...

But, I guess money talks.................



How absurd is that?


Spor Toto has been awarded naming rights for the Turkey’s top football leagues starting from the 2010-2011 season.

The deal will cost Spor Toto $125 million...

They will will acquire the naming rights for the Super League, League Two and League Three for the next five years.


Turkcell had been the main sponsor of the Super League for five years,

On the other hand Turkish Super League will start this weekend ,,,

Turkey squad for Romania friendly!

Turkish national team's 23-man squad for the upcoming friendly match against Romania on 11 August 2010 has been announced today.

Turkey squad will start gathering in İstanbul Swissotel starting from 17.00 on 8 August Sunday. Turkey will make their first training session at Beşiktaş İnönü Stadium the following day on 19.00. First 30 minutes of the practice will be open to media.

Turkey Head Coach Guus Hiddink, will hold a press conference on 10 August Tuesday at 15.00 in Swissotel. Two players will accompany the Dutch coach in this activity. Turkey will finalize their preparations for the game with a training that will take place at Ali Sami Yen Stadium at 19.00. Media will be able to follow 30 minutes of the practice.

Turkey - Romania friendly will be played at Fenerbahçe Şükrü Saraçoğlu Stadium and kick-off time is set as 21.15. The game will be broadcasted live by "Kanaltürk".

Turkey - Romania match will be officiated by Milorad Mazic from Serbian Football Federation. Mazic's assistants will be Igor Radojcic and Nikola Tomicic, while Turkish referee Halis Özkahya will be the fourth official.

UEFA DRAW FOR TURKISH TEAMS!

Galatasaray, Fenerbahce, Trabzonspor and Besiktas -- were picked against strong opposition in the UEFA Europa League playoffs after the draw was made at UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland.


Galatasaray were drawn with Ukraine's Karpaty Lviv in UEFA Europa League play-off round, while another Turkish team Trabzonspor must overcome England's Liverpool to advance to group stage.

Four Turkish teams are competing in Europa League play-offs.

Following the UEFA Europe League play-off round draw made in Switzerland, Besiktas were paired with Finland's HJK Helsinki.

Fenerbahce, who were eliminated by Swiss Young Boys in UEFA Champions League third qualifying round, will face Greece's PAOK in Europe League play-offs.

First legs will be played on August 19 and return matches will be played on August 26.

An excellent result from Galatasaray and Besiktas of Turkey. Galatasaray defeated Serbia's OFK Belgrade 5-1 in an away game in the Europa League 3rd qualifying round second leg. Galatasaray drew 2-2 with OFK Belgrade in the first match in Istanbul. Galatasaray qualified for play-off.

Turkish soccer team Besiktas defeated Czech Viktoria Plzen 3-0 in the second leg of the Europa League third qualifying round in Istanbul on Thursday. BeSiktaş qualified for the play-off.

Galatasaray defeated Serbia's OFK Belgrad 5-1 in an away game in the Europa League 3rd qualifying round second leg.
