ARAGONES: FENERBAHCE WILL BOUNCE BACK!......

Fenerbahce coach Luis Aragones is not worried that his side's poor league form will affect their Champions League hopes.

The Istanbul side host Dynamo Kiev in Group G on Tuesday night and will be hoping to continue their impressive home record in Europe and kick-start a season which has so far been very disappointing.

Having made the worst start to a campaign in 20 years, Fenerbahce are eighth in the table and suffered a further setback on Friday when they lost 2-1 to Sivasspor.

However, Aragones is not concerned and has every faith his team will improve.

"I don't think losing points in Turkey will affect my players as I believe the Champions League is a completely different motivation," he said.

"Despite taking the lead in the first half, we were not able to stop Sivasspor from scoring twice. Of course, this was not the impressive start we had wanted. We still need time to perform at our best, but our time will come."

The Turks boast a fearful record at the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium, having won every match there in last season's Champions League en route to their quarter-final exit at the hands of Chelsea, and are unbeaten in 14 games stretching back to November 2004.

They come up against a Dynamo side with a wretched record.

Yuri Semin's men have drawn one and lost seven of their last eight group-stage games, scoring two goals and conceding 18, although they held Arsenal to a 1-1 draw in the opening fixture earlier this month and go into the game off the back of a 3-0 defeat of Kryvbas which sent them joint top of the Ukrainian Superliga.

Fenerbahce have been reduced to the bare bones by injuries and woefully underperformed in their last Champions League fixture, a 3-1 defeat to Porto, to prop up the Group G table.

Star striker Semih Senturk remains a major doubt, as do newcomer Juan Pablo Josico, winger Gokcek Vederson and defender Edu Dracena.

Captain Alex De Souza, the heartbeat of the Fener team, is also on the injury list, but forward Daniel Guiza has a chance of recovering in time to make the bench on Tuesday.

Dynamo coach SemiH is likely to stick with the same players who impressed at home against Arsenal two weeks ago.

He said after that game: "If I was told before the game that we would have a draw, I would have been very pleased.

"This is a good start in the Champions League and the team did well, so overall I am satisfied."

Midfielder Roman Eremenko was particularly impressive, as was Ismael Bangoura, who caused the Gunners defence problems all night and scored the opener from the penalty spot.

Playmaker Oleksandr Aliyev was also heavily influential and scored twice in Friday's resounding league win.

NO MORE "UEFA CUP" IT WILL BE EUROPA LEAGUE

The UEFA Executive Committee has approved the change of name for the UEFA Cup to the UEFA Europa League from 2009/10.

The new name heralds major changes to the competition, which will have a new 48-team group stage with centralised marketing of broadcast rights, a presenting sponsor and an official matchball in addition to centralised sponsorship from the knockout stage and a new logo and visual identity. UEFA President Michel Platini said: "These changes will improve this historic competition, which is very important for UEFA and for European football as it gives more fans, players and clubs the thrill of European club football. I am convinced the new format will give the UEFA Europa League a successful new impetus."

The changes to the name, logo and brand identity of the competition are the next logical step following the decision to alter the format of the UEFA Cup and create a true group stage, with both home and away matches. That decision was taken by the UEFA Executive Committee in Lucerne, Switzerland, back in December 2007. The change of name better represents the format of the competition and with the enhancements to the logo and brand, the changes are such that from the 2009/10 season the UEFA Cup will effectively become a new competition.

The new name and logo will help underline the tournament's special character and unique sporting appeal. The fresh format will encourage teams from emerging countries or lesser-known sides to challenge the old order, and the new identity will seek to reflect that. UEFA's ambition in making all these changes is to rejuvenate the competition in the light of the new European football landscape, which has shifted significantly with the continued success of the UEFA Champions League, so that the UEFA Europa League can establish itself as a major competition.

"First and foremost, [the decision] is about timing," UEFA General Secretary David Taylor told uefa.com. "We've got a new competition and a new format for 2009-12, with centralisation of the group stage and with the group stage being much more similar to the UEFA Champions League format – whereby teams will play home and away. We have an opportunity to change the marketing [of the competition].

TUGAY MIGHT BE OLD, BUT HE IS STILL GOOD!..

Blackburn manager Paul Ince may be intent on taking the club to the next level with new ideas but he still has time for some wise old heads.

Tugay, 38, and Robbie Fowler, 33, had much to do with the 1-0 victory against Everton in the Carling Cup.

Martin Olsson's 10th-minute goal was enough to secure a place in the fourth-round draw, which takes place on Saturday.

Olsson was set up by Fowler, who decided to quit Cardiff and try his luck again in the top flight.

While the former Liverpool striker showed some nice touches and good vision on his debut, it was Tugay's classy performance which tilted the game in Blackburn's favour.

Disappointed Everton manager David Moyes admitted as much - and Ince lauded the veteran Turkish playmaker.

The Blackburn boss explained: "Tugay may be the grandad of our side but he is still a fantastic player.

"You never lose that passing ability and his brings composure to the team. The older you get you want to play every day and Tugay is no different.

"He still has the enthusiasm of 10 years ago but we have to be careful with him. It is horses for courses."

Ince is beginning to make his mark at the club after succeeding Mark Hughes in the summer, when the Welshman departed for Manchester City.

The former England midfielder was promoted to the Premier League after turning around the fortunes of League Two sides Macclesfield and then MK Dons.

Blackburn have stopped shipping goals and will face troubled Newcastle on Saturday in good heart after two victories in four days.

Ince said: "I do not get carried away with victories, defeats or draws.

"We conceded too many goals in a couple of games but we put matters right on the training ground and that was pleasing.

"We are trying to build something here and we showed against Everton there is spirit not just among the team but among the squad as well."

Midfielder Keith Andrews will come into contention for the Newcastle match - he was ineligible for the Carling Cup tie.

The Blackburn boss, speaking to Sky Sports News said - 'The two old men were different class. Robbie was champing at the bit and keen to prove a point, I played him in a slightly deeper role and he did ever so well. He never lost a ball and had a couple of chances. He made a difference and showed a lot of lovely touches. He is a natural goalscorer and you do not lose it. The signs are good." 'Tugay may be the grandad of our side but he is still a fantastic player.

'You never lose that passing ability and his brings composure to the team. The older you get you want to play every day and Tugay is no different.

Zico to coach Uzbekistan's Bunyodkor

Brazil great Zico has reached a deal to coach Uzbekistan's Bunyodkor for one year.

Zico, who was without a club since leaving Turkey's Fenerbahce this year, was on his way to Uzbekistan on Monday.

"There is a verbal agreement with club directors and I'm traveling to sign the contract," Zico said in a statement on his Web site.

Zico will replace Mirdjalal Kasimov, who accepted an offer to coach Uzbekistan's national team.

Zico spokesman Bruno Neves told The Associated Press that there was a possibility Zico will also be a technical consultant to Kasimov.

Zico will join countrymen Rivaldo and Luizao at Bunyodkor. Rivaldo, who helped Brazil win the 2002 World Cup in South Korea and Japan, was crucial in convincing Zico to accept the offer, Neves said.

"Zico is going mainly because of the influence of Rivaldo," Neves said.

Zico played in the 1978, 1982 and 1986 World Cups, and was Brazil's technical coordinator at the 1998 tournament in France.

He failed to reach an agreement with Fenerbahce after leading the club to the quarterfinals of the European Champions League this year. His name had been linked to possible moves to England's Newcastle and Manchester City, among other clubs.

Bunyodkor will host Iran's Saipa on Wednesday in the second leg of the quarterfinals of the Asian Champions League. The teams drew 2-2 in the first leg in Iran.

UEFA CUP ROUND-UP FOR TURKISH TEAMS!.

NOT BAD RESULTS FOR TURKISH TEAMS!....

BESIKTAS WINS AT HOME, GALATASARAY OUTSTANDING IN AWAY MATCH, AND KAYSERISPOR GOES DOWN AT HOME AGAINST PSG!

Besiktas 1- 0 FC Metalist
Bellinzona 3-4 Galatasaray
Kayserispor 1-2 PSG

Besiktas entered their contest with FC Metalist Kharkiv as favourites and duly ground out a 1-0 win.

Filip Holosko grabbed the only goal of the game on 58 minutes to ensure the Turkish outfit head to the Ukraine in a fortnight with their noses in front.

BEST MATCH OF THE UEFA CUP NIGHT!...

The game of the night came in Switzerland as Bellinzona and Galatasaray played out a 4-3 thriller.

Mauro Lustrinelli gave the Swiss side the lead just after the half-hour mark, but Harry Kewell responded for the Turks on 39 minutes.

Gurkan Sermete restored Bellinzona's advantage two minutes after the break, before Milan Baros restored parity five minutes later.

Shkelzen Gashi was then dismissed for Galatasaray on the hour, but Baros notched his second of the game with eight minutes remaining.

That appeared to be the end of the scoring as the game headed into injury-timer, but Cassio Lincoln grabbed a fourth for Galatasaray and Jacopo La Rocca notched another for the hosts.

PSG won 2-1 away, defeating Kayserispor.
Mateja Kezman opened the scoring on five minutes, but Delio Toledo looked to have drawn the game with a late 87th minute equaliser. But Peguy Luyindula then gave the visitors the win two minutes later.

A BAD START FOR ARAGONES'S FENERBAHCE!...

Luis Aragones' worries at Fenerbahce grew a little deeper on Wednesday night as they began their Champions League Group G campaign with a 3-1 loss at Porto.
The former Spain coach arrived in Turkey this summer with high hopes, but a stuttering start to the league campaign was compounded at the Stadium of Light as they came off distinctly second best to the hosts.

Porto led through early goals from Leonardo Lopez and Lucho Gonzalez, and although Daniel Guiza got one back against the run of play, Fener rarely threatened an equaliser before Lino capped the win at the death.

Fener have endured a disappointing start to the season in domestic competition, winning only one and draw two in the Turkcell Super League, and Aragones will have seen little early on to ease his concerns as Porto dominated the game from the start.

Lopez and Nelson Benitez had both gone close before Lopez opened the scoring in the 11th minute, latching on to Jose Raul Meireles' pass to fire beyond Volkan Demirel.

Porto then almost immediately doubled their lead as Argentinian midfielder Lucho Gonzalez met Cristian Rodriguez's pass to lash the ball home.

Porto had several chances to further extend their lead as Lopez and Meireles each missed a pair of openings, so it was clearly against the run of play when Fener got back into the game through Guiza's 30th minute goal.

Alex De Souza's header was blocked by Helton in the Porto goal but the ball fell to Guiza and the Spaniard tucked it away.

Late in the first half, Fener were handed a chance to tie the game when Cristian Sapunaru brought down Ugur Boral but Helton held Gokhan Gonul's free-kick.

Aragones brought off Sahin at half-time to replace him with another Spaniard, Josico, and the early signs were encouraging as Emre tried his luck with a long-range effort.

However, Porto were soon on the attack against as Mario Gonzalez went just wide with a shot from the edge of the area before Lucho Gonzalez was also off-target.

Just after the hour mark, Claudio Maldonado had another chance to tie the scores for Fener, but Helton held his shot.

Porto re-established control of the game, doing their best to frustrate the visitors as the clock wound down.

The next chance for either team did not come until the 86th minute as Alex blazed a shot over the crossbar from the edge of the area.

Porto responded as Demirel did well to parry Lucho Gonzalez's shot to safety moments later.

With the game moving into injury time, Fener poured forward in search of an equaliser, but they left the door open at the back and Lino nipped in to take advantage with a shot from the edge of the area that found the net.

FC Porto v Fenerbahce: Preview

Porto coach Jesualdo Ferreira has urged his team to make a positive start to the Champions League proper by beating last season's quarter-finalists Fenerbahce.

The Portuguese outfit host Luis Aragones' men on Wednesday night in Group G hoping to emulate the success of 2004, when they were crowned champions under Jose Mourinho.

In the last two campaigns, Porto have been knocked out at the last-16 stage - in 2006/07 to Chelsea and to Schalke on penalties last term - and Ferreira does not want a repeat of those disappointments.

"I do not have any doubts about the team I am going to field,'' said Ferreira. "The players are prepared and know the importance of this game, and they are motivated by being in this competition and facing the top clubs in Europe.

"Everyone will work hard to ensure a good game.

"In the two years I have been here we have not realized our objectives of winning the Champions League. I have only been able to speak about defeat.

"But despite not triumphing, we have achieved our objective of reaching the knockout stages.''

Despite being drawn in a tricky group which also includes Arsenal and Dynamo Kiev, Ferreira is upbeat about his side's chances of qualifying for the knockout stages for a third consecutive year.

"It's going to be hard for us,'' he said shortly after the draw. "But regardless of the group, our ambitions are the same as ever.

"We want to reach the knockout stage and certainly with the work we've been doing we'll certainly keep improving over the next few weeks.''

Ferreira is boosted by the return of attacking midfielder Mariano Gonzalez, although Rabiola and Tarik Sektioui are still sidelined with injury. Jorge Fucile and Freddy Guarin also miss out.

Fenerbahce reached the last eight of the competition last season and beat Chelsea at home in the first leg before eventually losing 3-2 on aggregate.

They have had a shaky start to this season, however, winning two and losing two in the Turkish Super League - one of those a 2-1 loss to struggling Hacettepe on Saturday.

New coach Aragones called losing six points in three games "a cause for real concern''.

Curiously, the Spaniard said Wednesday night's main objective is to play attractive football - a surprise given that Fenerbahce are the away side and will want to make as good a start as possible in an intimidating group.

"Porto consist of great players who have already shown what they are capable of achieving,'' he told the club's website. "Our primary goal is to play nice football.''

Veteran Roberto Carlos, a Champions League winner with Real Madrid in 1998, 2000 and 2002, is not underestimating the size of the Yellow Canaries' task, despite Porto being without star winger Ricardo Quaresma, who left for Internazionale on transfer deadline day.

"Porto are a strong team,'' Roberto Carlos told Istanbul newspaper Hurriyet. "Quaresma is a big loss but they are still a good side without him. We will have to take each match as it comes.''

Why do it!.... and than be sorry about it!...

I just can't get that!...

This was not the first time and it will not be the last time, that , Fatih Terim will have to do this !....

I think , He needs to go to Anger Management Class!.....

Look what he said to the LIG TV Reporter, on Sunday, while He was watching Galatasaray v Antalyaspor match!..

"I regretted being in a tense situation like that.Thinking about the incident after the game, I should not have been provoked by a coach whose career is so unremarkable,Whatever he did, even if I was right, I should not have acted so tense. I admit that I made a mistake there."

He also said, "I owe an apology to my coaching staff, to my players, and especially the football fans, but ultimately, I owe myself an apology. An experienced coach like that should not have been let to be drawn into provocation."

Wait though!,,,,,there are three more teams that share the same points!...
BESIKTAS.....GAZIANTEPSPOR AND TRABZONSPOR.....

At the end of the third round, Galatasaray is in fifth ,Kayserispor is in sixth and Fenerbahce, is deep down in 12Th place, as I wrote it, on my Saturday report.

So, at the end of the week three, we see different kind of League standing, that Turkish soccer fans are not use to see!....

With the European competitions to start this coming week, Fenerbahce, Galatasaray, Besiktas and Kayseripsor has to concentrate in the both leagues!...

TSL (TURKCELL SUPER LEAGUE) ,SATURDAY WRAP!...

Another shocking news for Fenerbahce!....

FENERBAHCE GOES DOWN IN ANKARA, AGAINST HACETTEPE....

After the National team matches and chaos, Turkey finally trying to focus on the Turkcell Super League.

The third round started, with a bang again this Saturday!....

In the opening match, Fenerbahce, traveled to Capitol city of Turkey, Ankara.

New Name Hacettepe!....former Genclerbirligi Oftas team beat Fenerbahce with the 2-1 score.

Fenerbahce was hurting, with a lot of injuries and with other problems!....

That cost the match for Fenerbahce!...

Until very and of the first half, Fenerbahce was ahead 1-0 with Alex's goal.
But, things changed in the last minute.Hacettepe tied the match with Ibrahim Sahin's goal in the 45Th minute.Just before the first half whistle.

In the second half, young defender who has not started in a long time Can Arat, scored his own goal for Hacettepe.

Later in the match Keeper Volkan Demirel was red carded and another young defender Yasin Cakmak took the gloves from Volkan.

In the remain minutes of the match Fenerbahce was not successful to score goals!..

After this win, Hacettepe moved on top of the Fenerbahce ,while Fenerbahce droped down to eight place , they could well down further after Sunday's matches...
We could see Fenerbahce finishing 12 or 13th place at the end of the third week in the Turkcell Super League....

That could be in really big problem for Fenerbahce and Aragones in the long run!,,,,

They left three import points in Ankara before the CL matches in the Europe competition...Fenerbahce has only three points after three rounds!....

Elsewhere, on Saturday, Konyaspor tied at home with Denizlispor, 1-1

In Kayseri, Kayserispor beat leaeges new comer team Kocaelispor with only one goal.

As I was writing this article, Galatasaray was playing against Antalysspor at home and after Gala scoring the first goal , later Anlatalyaspor tied the match.

As of now that match is at the half time...

GALATASARAY DROPS TWO BIG POINTS AT HOME!..

After Fenerbahce , Galatasaray droped points at thier Turkcell Super League match against Antalyaspor at home in front of their own fan.

AS I told you before the score at the half time did not change in the second half of the match and the match enden with 1-1 score!...

Galatasary scored first, but Nonda in the 11th minute of the match and Anlatyspor answered with Joseph Ngwenya goal in the 32th minute of the match.

With this loss Galatasaray like Fenerbahce lost points....
Afre the third week, Galatasaray won only one march and draw two!...

That is really bad start for Galatasaray too..

After elimination fron Champions League now....bad result in the league is not making Gala fans really happy!...

Look for some changes in the coming days in the Galatasaray team!.....

SUNDAY PREVIEW!....

It will be Super Sunday in The Turkcell Super League....

Four perfect teams with six points will have to put a tough fight........

Out of these four , two of them....Besiktas and Trabzonspor will clash in the city of Trabzon.

The others, Gaziantepspor will be at home against Ankaragucu and Bursaspor will be away against though team Sivasspor!...

So, I know one thing, It will be really hard for these teams to stay perfect!..

TURKEY AND FATIH TERIM LOST VERY IMPORTANT POINTS !...

Fourth official Philippe Kalt (R) gestures to Turkey's head coach Fatih Terim (L) during a discussion between Terim and Belgium's head coach Rene Vandereycken (rear) during their World Cup 2010 qualifying soccer match at Sukru Saracoglu Stadium in Istanbul, September 10, 2008.
Photo:REUTERS/Fatih Saribas (TURKEY)

This was very important match for Turkey and Fatih Terim at home .

A win, would it made a big difference in the standings!..

A lost of two points, at home against Belgium, will cost Fatih Terim and Turkish side along the long way in this group5.

As I am writing this article, Spain is ahead against Armenia 4-0 at home, if they win this match they will take the first place from Turkey with six points.

This draw was so bad , Turkey put Belgium and Bosnia in the race in this Group.

Today, Bosnia thrashed Estonia with the score 7-0. and got their first three points in the group.

And Turkey's next match is against Bosnia next month in Turkey.

That is why this match was so important!....

Belgium, Bosnia and Turkey now have to fight for the second spot in the group after Today. Thanks to Turkish National team and fatih Terim!...

Fatih Terim, again, did some heroic changes in the line-up and the play system!...

In the first half, at home he played with 4-5-1 formation....

That was no no in my book!...

Also, again, I could not understand his gestures from side line...

His mean, aggressive moves from side line was unnecessary ,in my opinion!..

Emre Belezooglu, saved the Turkish National team and Fatih Terim with a Penalty kick goal

A loss would it been much worse!....

Some people might say this is the only second match in the group, but, if you can't win your home games ,it will be hard to get a ticket to world Cup 2010 in this group.

Let's not forget the matches that Turkey will play away!..

Turkish TRT TV to air Armenia soccer match

The Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT) will air a World Cup qualifying match between the Turkish and Armenian national teams on Saturday, TRT officials have announced.

A nine-member TRT team will travel to Armenia to cover the game.

But while in Armenia, they will also have interviews with Armenian nationals in the capital city of Yerevan and prepare news features to give the Turkish audience a better insight into daily life in this neighboring country.

The TRT recently signed a memorandum of understanding with Armenia's state-owned Public Television Company to cooperate in a number of areas.

The document, signed in Ankara on Aug. 26, envisages that the two broadcasters will produce TV programs that will help improve dialogue between Turkey and Armenia, exchange information and experiences and collaborate on entertainment and drama programs and documentaries.

News reports in Azerbaijani media said last week that the first radio broadcast was organized by Turkish Armenians in the early 1900s.

Turkish president Abdullah Gul to attend soccer match in Armenia

Turkish President Abdullah Gul will travel Saturday to Armenia to watch a World Cup soccer qualifying match between the two countries -- a move promoted as a step toward bolstering relations between neighbor nations with a long history of animosity.

"We believe such visit will contribute to the creation of a warmer friendship climate in the region," said a statement from Gul's office, which added Armenian President Serj Sarkisyan extended the invitation. "Our president has accepted the invitation with this understanding," it said.

"It is also hoped this visit will offer the opportunity for the citizens of two nations to understand each other better."

Gul would be the first Turkish head of state to visit Armenia, which was a Soviet repu
blic until 1991, in an official capacity.

The neighboring nations in the Caucasus region, straddling Europe and the Middle East, have no official diplomatic relations and their shared border has has been closed since 1993.

Much of the animosity stems from mass killings of Armenians by Ottoman Turks during World War I.

Armenians call the killings genocide. Historians estimate about 1.5 million Armenians were killed by the Ottoman Empire -- the predecessor to modern Turkey -- during the war.

Turkey, which is now a secular and democratic Muslim nation, calls the killings part of the natural course of war, says far fewer than 1.5 million Armenians were killed and says a comparable number of Turks died in the conflict.

Last year, members of the U.S. House of Representatives sponsored a resolution that would have declared the killings an act of genocide. But, under pressure from the Bush administration, House leaders dropped plans for a vote.

The administration was trying to persuade Turkey not to launch cross-border raids into Iraq against Kurdish rebels and Turkey had threatened to curtail U.S. access to military bases used to support U.S. troops in Iraq if the resolution had passed.

In 2005, Turkey moved away from its historical position of blanket denial -- calling for an "open investigation" by scholars from both countries into the genocide allegations. The Armenian government has declined to take part, calling it a political maneuver.

When the soccer match was announced last year -- the first time the two nations have played each other in soccer at the highest level -- questions were raised as to whether tensions would be too high for the game to be played as planned.

But political and sports leaders from both nations quickly moved to play down the political implications of the match, in which Turkey is heavily favored.

"You cannot play a game thinking about those things," Turkish coach Fatih Terim told the Turkish Daily News. "We cannot carry the weight of history on our shoulders."
