Besiktas's Matias Delgado to Arsenal?....

According to British press, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is lining up a £5 million move for Besiktas central midfielder Matias Delgado.

The Argentine international has little over a year left on his current deal with Besiktas and is believed to be available at a cut-down price.

However, Arsenal are likely to face competition for the 25-year-old's signature from Everton and Middlesbrough, who are known to be keen admirers, while Valencia and Villarreal are also monitoring the situation from Spain.

But Delgado is believed to be enticed by the premise of Champions' League football, which could help to sway the balance in Arsenal's favour.

Turkish National Team had to come from behind twice to scrape a 2-2 draw away to Belarus in their friendly international.
Belarus, who were recently beaten 1-0 by Luxembourg, took the lead in the 36th minute with Vitaly Kutuzov beating Tolga Zengin in the Turkey goal. But the visitors were back on terms five minutes before the interval with Middlesbrough striker Tuncay Sanli finding the net. Veteran coach Fatih Terim would have expected a much-improved display from his side after the break, but they again found themselves on the back foot.
Viatcheslav Hleb delighted the Dinamo Stadion crowd as he restored Belarus' advantage in the 65th minute.
Turkey's response was again swift, with substitute goalkeeper Vasily Khomutovsky unable to prevent Tumer Metin from equalising for a second time.

This was second consecutive draw in warmup matches for the European Championship.
Fatih Terim's boys, played to a 0-0 draw against Sweden last month.

German coach Karl-Heinz Feldkamp said Wednesday he will not serve as the coach of Turkcell Super League team Galatasaray next season.

Galatasaray to play one game without fans

The Turkish Soccer Disciplinary Board ruled that Galatasaray soccer team of Istanbul will play its next home game in the Turkcell Super Soccer League without spectators.

The board said the decision was taken because Galatasaray fans were responsible for rowdy scenes during the game against Ankaraspor.

Galatasary which is chasing the title and will play a crucial game at home against Gaziantespor this weekend without its fans.

Galatasary is second in the standings with 60 points. Fenerbahce which will play a derby game with powerful Besiktas in Istanbul is the leader also with 60 points but on a better goal average.

IT'S FENERBAHCE'S TURN TO BE ON TOP!

Let me say it again....Turkcell Super League has not seen a race like this in the history of Turkey's soccer history!...

Seven weeks left in the League and we have four potential contenders for the top spot....This is first time....Before it was either two or three never four.....

If you remember my old posts on this blog, I have said Sivasspor was for real in this League and they proved me right!...They are for real....
What is so interesting in this weekend matches is Besiktas the team who was in first place went to fourth place after losing against Istanbul B.B.Spor......

We all know Besiktas has a big problem on defense...we talked about this before..
I can not understand why young Rookie coach Ertugrul Saglam can't see this!...

He already lost the Turkish Fortis Cup run , If he does not finish on top or second place at the end of season , it will be all over for him ...he will bite the dust!.

He was the one who wanted all those transfers for defense ..they are all been bust..

Besiktas will have though two week coming up first, this weekend a big Derby match against Fenerbahce in Their home turf than, following weekend they will face Sivasspor in Sivas. If they don't step up and play , they will be out of this race in my opinion!...Next two weeks will be really cruatual for Besiktas.

On the other Hand , Fenerbahce, the team who captured the top spot on Saturday, won the match against League's last place team Kasimpasaspor in the last fifteen minutes of the match...Turkey's top goal scorer and super sub Semih Senturk scored a goal and Alex and Kezman also scored for Fenerbahce.

So, At the end of the 27th week, Fenerbahce shares the top spot with Galatasaray after Galatasaray winning in the last seconds of the match against Denizlispor on Sunday. They both have 60 points. Third place Sivasspor have 58 points and fourth place Besiktas also have 58 points.

Here is the Sunday Recap in the Turkcell Super League.....

A last-gasp Servet Cetin goal saw Galatasaray snatch a 2-1 win over Denizlispor to move level on points with Super Lig leaders Fenerbahce.

Hasan Yigit gave the visitors a surprise lead on 24 minutes before Okan Buruk equalised just after the half-hour mark and Cetin pounced on 88 minutes to give Galatasaray all three points.

Three goals in six minutes saw Sivasspor beat Konyaspor 3-0 to move top within two points of the top two.

Ivan Cvetkov broke the deadlock on 74 minutes and half-time substitute Ugur Yildirim doubled Sivasspor's advantage three minutes later before Mehmet Yildiz sealed the victory.

MEXICAN SOCCER PLAYER Antonio De Nigris SCORE TWO GOALS AND STAYS IN THE RACE FOR TOP SCORER.........

Ankaraspor put a bit of daylight between themselves and the relegation zone as they triumphed 3-1 at fellow strugglers Genclerbirligi.

Antonio De Nigris put the visitors in front after 33 minutes and doubled his and his side's tally shortly after half-time.

Mehmet Nas pulled one back for his side on 79 minutes but a last-minute goal by Murat Tosun sealed Ankaraspor's second away win of the season to see them move two points away from the drop zone.

Caykur Rizespor occupy the last relegation spot but still have hopes of securing safety after holding ninth-placed Ankaragucu to a goaless draw.

Umut Bulut scored at either end of the match to snatch a late victory for Trabzonspor in their clash with Kayserispor.

The visitors were 13 points above Trabzonspor in fifth place but the hosts got off to the best start as Bulut opened the scoring in the sixth minute.

Leonardo Iglesias grabbed one back for Kayserispor just after the hour mark, but Bulut's second two minutes from time gave Trabzonspor all three points to send them to sixth in the table.

Czech Republic coach Karel Bruckner to resign after Euro 2008

Czech Republic coach Karel Bruckner will retire from soccer after this year's European Championship.

The 68-year-old Bruckner said he will end his coaching career after the tournament. His team is in a first-round group with Switzerland, Turkey and Portugal. "I've decided to retire after the championship," Bruckner said Thursday while announcing his squad for a friendly at Denmark next week.

"Thirty-four years of coaching are 34 years," Bruckner said. "That was enough."

He said he did not plan to lead the national squad against England in a friendly match scheduled for Aug. 20 at Wembley.

"I won't be involved in that match," Bruckner said.

Bruckner took over from Josef Chovanec after the Czechs failed to qualify for the 2002 World Cup, and has led the country to all major international tournaments since.

When Bruckner took command, he rebuilt a fractious squad with low morale to create what many observers have said is the most exciting Czech side ever.

Bruckner changed the team's defensive style into an attacking approach highly appreciated by fans, and good results followed.

At the 2004 European Championship, the Czechs won accolades for their flee-flowing, attacking soccer which brought surprise victories over Germany and the Netherlands during a run to the semifinals.

The Czech Republic then qualified for its first World Cup as an independent nation and two years later reached another European Championship, which it opens on June 7 in Basel against co-host Switzerland.

"It would a success to advance from the group," Bruckner said Thursday.

Bruckner has won 47 and lost just 10 of his 69 matches in charge, although he didn't lead the team for last month's friendly against Poland because he was ill.

No replacement was immediately announced.

Bruckner coached several Czech and Slovak clubs since the 1970s, including a notable run to the 1992 UEFA Cup quarter-finals with Olomouc.

BESIKTAS STILL ON TOP BUT WITH A LITTLE LUCK!

I have been following the Turkish soccer seen for a long time and I have never seen a race like this on top for quite a long time.

And, I don't even remember, four teams, running for the top spot....
it was either two or three, never four!...

Well, this year , I said before, Sivasspor is for real!....They are putting a hell of fight on top.

In the Last Nine weeks, Turkish Turkcell Super League will witness really though matches and we will see a lot of changes on top!...

Besiktas stayed on top, with a little luck, scoring in the last seconds of injury time, by a fish goal, after a defenders, big mistake!

I don't know but, I did not counted, this was Besiktas's seventh winning in the last minutes of the matches...How long this luck will go on?....

Besiktas has a major defense problem....Guys like Baki on defense needs to learn to cover a man..... He is really bad!...on, one and one he is just disaster ...plus he can really clear any balls!.So, Besiktas played on Friday and won, on Saturday, Galatasaray played and won....and on Sunday, Sivaspor and Fenerbahce payed and they won.
So, like I said, nothing has changed at the end of the 25Th week in the Turkish Super League!...

Here is the report from this weekend.......

FENERBAHCE'S DREAM COME THROUGH...........

Photo:AP
WE SAID .....WE BELIEVE IN YOU................

ALL TURKISH PEOPLE ARE FENERBAHCE FANS TODAY!.... MARCH /4/2008

Historic night for Turks....

FENERBAHCE'S DREAM COME THROUGH...........

Fenerbahce Keeper Volkan Demirel was first goat than hero for Fenerbahce as they advanced from a penalty shoot-out with Sevilla and into the Champions League quarter-finals for the first time in their history.

After 90 minutes Sevilla led 3-2 to cancel out the first-leg deficit and make the score 5-5 on aggregate and with no goals in extra-time, it was left to visiting goalkeeper Volkan, who saved from Julien Escude, Ivica Dragutinovic and Dani Alves.

Volkan had earlier gifted Sevilla a two-goal lead within nine minutes, as four goals were scored in a pulsating first half.

Edu Dracena and Luis Fabiano on a ball hunt

He failed to deal with long-range efforts by Dani Alves and Seydou Keita, and although Brazilian forward Deivid pulled a goal back for Fenerbahce on 20 minutes, Sevilla restored a two-goal advantage with a deflected Frederic Kanoute shot just before half time.

Deivid pounced for his second with 11 minutes left, and with no more goals after extra time it was left to Volkan to make amends for his earlier errors.

He saved Sevilla's second penalty from Escude, and although Palop kept out Edu Dracena's powerful effort in response, Volkan then stopped Enzo Moresca's blasted shot and punched away Alves' powerful effort to send the Turkish side through.

Sevilla had dominated from kick-off, their early pace troubled the Fenerbahce defence, and when Keita was held back by Selcuk Sahin the home side fortuitously took a fourth-minute lead with the resulting free-kick.

Alves' powerful 35-yard strike was straight at Volkan, who could only punch the ball into the top corner putting Sevilla ahead in the tie under the away goals rule.

Their confidence yielded a second goal just five minutes later, Keita striking a left-foot swerving shot from a similar range which deceived the 26-year-old Turkey goalkeeper and flew into the top-left corner.

Fenerbahce began to recover and Deivid scored on 20 minutes, shooting low from 12 yards through an advancing crowd after a Mehmet Aurelio corner had not been cleared.

Both sides then went close as space opened in midfield, and Sevilla took advantage five minutes before the break.

Alves crossed from the right to Kanoute, who controlled with his chest from 12 yards and fired a low volley at goal, which was deflected by Gokhan Gonul past the helpless Volkan.

Sevilla held on for the rest of the half, Christian Poulsen clearing off the goal-line deep into injury time after Aurelio had set-up Deivid's shot.

Fenerbahce played with more fluency in a quieter start to the second half, and came close to an aggregate equaliser through Alex and then two chances for Ugur Boral.

And the home side paid the price for their own missed opportunities on 79 minutes as Fenerbahce drew level on aggregate.

Deivid crept unmarked behind the defence to latch onto a long free-kick from Alex, and first hit the post before pouncing on the rebound to score from two yards.

The game remained 3-2 after 90 minutes and went into extra-time, where both sides struggled to maintain their earlier intensity.

Deivid had chances for a hat-trick, but missed two 20-yard efforts within a minute while Alves shot a 25-yard free kick wide on 99 minutes.

Alves hit a 25-yard free-kick against the wall in injury time, and the game went into penalties, where Volkan's saves ensured a safe passage for Fenerbahce.

SENOL GUNES'S TEAM BEAT BECKHAM'S TEAM

Former Turkish National team coach Senol Gunes' team FC Seoul beat Beckham's Galaxy team in a friendly match after a penalty shootout.

David Beckham was the only one of five Los Angeles Galaxy players to convert in a penalty shootout and the Major League Soccer team lost to South Korea's FC Seoul in an exhibition game Saturday.

After the match ended 1-1, Seoul won 2-1 in the shootout thanks to four saves by goalkeeper Kim Ho-jun.

"We were disappointed to lose on penalties but penalties are like that -- there has to be a winner and a loser," Beckham said. "The overall play of the team in the first 30 minutes was good, some of the best football I've played with the Galaxy."

Every Beckham touch was applauded by the crowd that filled just half of the 65,000-capacity Seoul World Cup Stadium.

"The fans were giving me thumbs-down before the penalty so when I scored, I gave them the thumbs-up," Beckham said. "It was all a bit of fun."

The Galaxy had the better of an energetic first half, but the game slowed considerably after the break.

After just six minutes, Beckham was brought down by Lee Chung-young and the former England captain exchanged words with the young Korean.

In the 20th minute, Beckham set up the opening goal, floating a freekick into the penalty area, where Alan Gordon slotted the ball past Kim from close range.

Seoul equalized 10 minutes later when Jung Jo-gook scored from the penalty spot.

Beckham was the first player up in the shootout and blasted his kick high into the net, but Kim wasn't beaten again.

It was the opening leg of the American team's preseason East Asian tour. The Galaxy will play against Shanghai-Hong Kong United in Shanghai on Wednesday and then travel to play Hong Kong Union on March 9.

CNN.com:Fenerbahce determined to reach the top

ISTANBUL, Turkey -- Turks Fenerbahce hope to step up their claim to become a world force in football when they travel to Spain with a 3-2 lead for the second leg of their Champions League tie against Sevilla.

Brazilian coach Zico is convinced that Fenerbahce can become a great European club.

The 17-time Turkish champions have big ambitions.

"Our objective is to join the best clubs in the world - AC Milan, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester United, Chelsea. It's not easy to get to that level but we have the ability," said team manager Volkan Balli.

Turkey has a modest record in European football, with Galatasaray's 1999-2000 UEFA Cup triumph a rare success..

Money is not a problem for Fenerbahce, who are financed by their president Aziz Yildirim, and they play at a 52,500-capacity ground on the Asian banks of the city - the Sukru Saracoglu stadium.

The club's organization and support is so widespread that it is nicknamed "Republic of Fenerbahce".

"Its true, the club is a republic. It's incredible. Everyone helps each other out. The fans love Fenerbahce, they buy Fenerbahce, they help the club." added Balli.

The club also supports basketball and volleyball teams who play at the highest international level.

The organization is also listed with a budget this season of around $200 million.

They have had no difficulty in attracting big name players like Argentine midfielder Ariel Ortega (2002-2003), Dutch striker Pierre van Hooijdonk (2003-2005) and French attacker Nicolas Anelka (2004-2006).

But their speciality is bringing Brazilians to the club.

World Cup winner Roberto Carlos, arrived in 2007 from Real Madrid, while they also have Ed Dracena in defense, Mehmet Aurelio, Alex de Souza and Gokcek Vederson in midfield and Deivid de Souza up front.

Their coach is Zico, a legendary Brazilian international,

"These players are here because they are good players and they are good players because they are Brazilian," said Zico.

"Fenerbahce are going to be a great European team because they have a dream.

"Look at the structures, they are amongst the best in Europe and all the signings have been made with the goal of becoming a great team."
