Galatasaray coach Skibbe under pressure
Galatasaray coach Michael Skibbe finds himself under pressure as the strikers and defense players he sought on his first day with the club have not yet been transferred.
The German coach stressed that they have to replace the positions normally filled by former striker Hakan Sukur and defense player Rigobert Song as soon as possible.
Skibbe is also concerned at not having Galatasaray’s Turkish national team players, who have been on break since Euro 2008, at the team’s training camp. For this reason he invited the players of the under-20 squad to the training sessions of the senior team.
The young coach was relieved when the national players and new transfer from Liverpool Harry Kewell participated in Galatasaray’s training camp in Antalya on July 11. However difficult days lie ahead for the German coach, as Servet Cetin, Hasan Sas and Emre Gungor, who were in the first 11 last year, remain on the injured list. Another obstacle Skibbe faces is the fact that he only has Hakan Balta, Emre Asik, Sabri Sarioğlu to play defense.
As a result, he finds himself unable to run a successful training camp prior to the Champions League elimination match on Aug. 11.
After Skibbe explained that the players to be transferred should be with the team at the training camp as soon as possible, Galatasaray General Manager Adnan Sezgin said they were about to end the search for new signings, adding: “Transferring good players is not easy, but hopefully we will announce at least one or two transfers next week.”
Galatasaray, which has long been looking for a defense player due to problems with its defense block, has received bad news from Australian Lucas Neill, who decided against coming to Turkey at the last minute.
Meanwhile, it is reported that Galatasaray is interested in Besiktas’s Ibrahim Toraman, who was relegated from the Besiktas squad after a confrontation with the team’s captain, Ibrahim Uzulmez.

HISTORY IN SIVAS!
First time ever City of Sivas, Turkey and Sivasspor will host a International match on their own soil, 4 Eylul Stadium on Sunday.
This is great for city of Sivas and Sivaspor soccer fans.
Although it is UEFA's Intertoto Cup tournament but, it is a good thing for Sivas.
After having had a glittering season last year, Sivasspor is now on the European stage. Bülent Uygun's side holds the advantage after a 2-2 away draw and is relying on its home crowd, which will experience an unprecedented Intertoto Cup tie this Sunday
Balili back
<span style="font-style:italic;">Goal Keepers Petkovic and the suspended Akin Vardar will both sit out Sunday's match, meaning a likely start for Volkan Ünlü, while key midfielder Mohamed Ali Kurtulus underwent knee surgery a few days ago. However, defender Abdurrahman Dereli is likely to return. Israel striker Pini Balili returned last week for his first game since suffering a serious shoulder injury against Galatasaray in December.
