Besiktas won the Turkish Cup for the third time in four years on Wednesday, beating Fenerbahce 4-2 in Izmir with Brazilian Bobo scoring twice.
League leaders Besiktas went ahead against their Istanbul rivals after six minutes when Yusuf Simsek beat keeper Volkan Babacan with a shot from the edge of the area at the Ataturk Stadium.
Daniel Guiza equalised in the 27th, sidefooting home from close range after Deivid de Souza slid the ball across the penalty area.
Striker Bobo put Besiktas back in front with a powerful long-range shot before making it 3-1 with a header.
Filip Holosko added the fourth goal with 10 minutes left, firing in after a one-two with Bobo.
Alex scored Fenerbahce's second with a penalty in injury time. Fenerbahce, who have not won the Turkish Cup since 1983, are fifth in the league with three matches remaining.

Congratulations to Kartal fans.
ReplyDeleteFener's wait for the Turkish Cup continues for another year. Great goal from Bobo and lovely give-and-go by Holosko. Worthy champions. But in the ceremony, the usually loud support from Carsi was absent. Was it because the final was played in Izmir?
Thanks, Izmir is very good city as soccer fans but not good as Carsi In Istanbul.
ReplyDeleteThis city fans deserve Turkish Super League team !
Being from Izmir, I know people from Izmir misses the big matches like this one.
There are a lot of Galatasaray , Besiktas and Fenerbahce fans in Izmir too.
Regards,
Well isn't Karsiyaka in the playoffs for promotion? It would be fantastic to see both Karsiyaka and Göztepe back in the first division and see a real rivalry rival Istanbul's traditional derbies. Maybe it's too much to hope for Altay to return as well.
