Fatih Terim chasing a miracle

FATIH TERIM AND AHMET B TURGUT-1997

Turkish National team boys and their new coach for the third spell Fatih Terim still believes in a miracles ...

After beating Angora at home last Friday with 5-zip score , they are aiming to win their last three matches in the Group D and looking for some help a long the way  by Holland to beat Hungary !

Dream is still going on  , Terim, says ..

After really bad start in the group with Abdullah Avci, Turkish Football decided to bring motivator and father like figure to many players on the team , Terim to coach remaining four matches.

Tuesday's match against Romania in Romania will be hard fought one ...

At the press conference today, Terim said, he could see the excitement and courage from his players eyes ..

He said , my players ready to play and give their best on the pitch on Tuesday .

Romania is in first place in the Group D and a draw will be enough for them..
But, a draw will kill Terim's and his boys dream on Tuesday!

That's is why it is oneway street for Turkey ...

Terim gave a flash interview to FIFA. COM , web site here is what he said there .

FIFA.com: Can you describe your emotions about returning as Turkey's national coach?
Fatih Terim: My principle has always been to respond positively when national duty calls. Therefore, whenever I believe there’s such a need and my employers approve such a role, I have no second thoughts of responding positively to the call. After receiving the offer from Turkish Football Federation, I approached the matter with this philosophy and the result is that I’m now in charge of the team.
What are your plans for the team? What needs to be changed?
Unfortunately, Turkey's recent results have fallen below expectations. Certainly, we are in a position that we don’t desire. But instead of making changes in the current team, I think we need to modify the base of the system and our youth development setup. It will be vital to implement the right project with the help of experts in these areas. However, our main priority is the Romania game and we are fully concentrated on that.
How would you evaluate the current situation in Group D? Do you feel that Turkey still have a chance of qualifying?
Instead of evaluating this matter on the basis of luck, it will be more reasonable to fulfil the needs of complex mathematical calculations in our group. Of course, achieving the impossible has always been my target but what we are chasing is a miracle now, and I am aware that performing this miracle depends not just on time but also several other factors. My aim is to ensure that our fans can watch entertaining performances from very talented players who can achieve anything if they really believe and work hard for their goals. For that reason, if we prepare well, work hard and reflect those efforts on the field, I am fully confident that we can achieve our miracle. I will certainly put all my efforts towards this and pray for it to happen.
Where do you believe Turkey currently stands in world football? And what is the team's potential?
Turkey have already shown what they are capable of with their past achievements and established their position in world football. With all my heart, I believe that we have significant potential. However, raw potential won’t deliver the results you need. What we need is to properly handle our talent and to combine smooth physical and psychological performance with world-class technique and tactical knowledge. In other words, processing the talent in the way it deserves and making it sustainable.
Do you think this current Turkish generation can follow in the footsteps of the generation that finished third at the 2002 FIFA World Cup Korea/Japan?
Unless the world stops turning and the football industry stops developing, no two generations will be identical. Despite having common values, players who grew up in different cultures and conditions should be trained and handled according to their own generations. The 2002 generation played with great commitment and self-sacrifice and the 2008 crop were very ambitious. The 2013, 2014 and 2015 generation will be seen in a different way.

Turkey 5- Andorra 0

Turkish National team won against Andorra  in 2014 Fifa World Cup qualification group D in hopes of reaching the World Cup, to be held in Brazil in June next year.

Turkey beat Andorra 5-0 ...

Umut Bulut scored a hat-trick, with goals from Burak Yilmaz and Arda Turan, gave Turkey easy win against very weak opponent

Fatih Terim's boys need to win all of their remaining three matches and hope for miracles in group D.

Turkey's chances are considered slim, following bad results with only seven points in the last six games under Abdullah Avci ...

Fatih Terim started his third spell with a win but he and his boys will face first place Romania in Romania on Tuesday .

That would be real test for the Terim's boys ..

Turkey has to win their remaining three matches and hope for miracles from other teams..

Chances are still very slim for Turkey !

Besiktas win and waits for CAS, Trabzon advances

Beşiktaş team and fans did their parts in its bid to advance to Europa League's group stage by defeating Norway's Tromso 2-0 at Istanbul's Olympic Stadium with over 70.000 fans...

But , the decision by CAS on Friday will decide if they will advance to Europa League !

Some reports say, Besiktas already reviewed fax from UEFA  not to show up for Friday's draw ..

TRABZON does it easy ....
Trabzonspor advanced into the Europa League group matches after wining at home 3-1 against Albanian Kukesi team .
Trabzon won the first leg match 2-0 in Albania ..

Galatasaray in group B against big guns !

Turkish Champions Galatasaray will be in Group B, in the Champions League...

Galatasaray will face Real Madrid, Juventus and Copenhagen ,,,

Galatasaray was eliminated by Real Madrid last season at the quarter final stage !

Juventus is  another tough team in this group...

Galatasaray has to win their all home matches to be in good position in the group.

This will be 12th Champions League campaign for Galatasaray...

Busy Week for Turkish Football

It has been very busy week and will be very busy weekend for Turkish Football !

After Arsenal kicked Fenerbahce out of the Champions League on Tuesday on Thursday ,CAS  decision  was announced ..

As everyone knows , Fenerbahce will not be in the European competitions for two years..

Two years of dilemma ended in the Turkish football yesterday....

On Friday, CAS will decide on Besiktas's case!

Pretty much , Besiktas will be punish  by the UEFA too ....

If Besiktas win today at home against Tromso,  They will not play this season in the Europa League...

If they lose or draw to Tromso today they will not be in Europe next season...

So,  a win against Tromso today may not take them to Europa League group stages but at least they will have a chance to go to Europe next season if they qualify...

Also on today, Trabzonspor will be at home against Kukesi team ...

Trabzonspor won the first leg match  2-0

Most likely, Trabzonspor will be in the Europa League group stages...

Yesterday, Trabzonspor coach  Mustafa Akcay said, It looks good on the paper for us but we still have to play ninety minutes on the pitch. We have to do the talking on the pitch  "

He  went on to say ' No game is won before it is played "

Trabzonspor should advance.......

Galatasaray  who will play in the Champions League , this season will find out who they will match with!

Galatasaray will be in pot 3 and will not face any time who  is in pot 3...

Galatasaray might just meet Arsenal again.....

On Friday , in the Turkish Super League, week 3 will take a start with two good matches,,,

In one of them, Galatasaray will travel to Eskisehir to play Eskisehirspor...

Fatih Terim will be on the sideline after his nine match suspension by Turkish Football Federation !

Also on Friday, Konyaspor will host Kasimpasa.......

On Saturday, Kayseri vs Elazig, Antalya vs Bursa and Fenerbahce will host  Sivaspor who is coached by Roberto Carlos,,,,,

That should be good match......

On Sunday, Besiktas will face Gaziantep at home, Trabzon will travel to Manisa to play Akhisar, Rizespor will be at home against Kayseri Erciyesspor and Karabuk will host Genclerbirligi....

There are no matches on Monday because of National team  match...

Fenerbahce out of Europe after CAS decision !

European football governing body,UEFA have sanctioned Turkish side,Fenerbahce, banning them from competing in Europe, because of their role in domestic match-fixing.
After their case was heard in the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS),their appeal was thrown out ,which enforced the UEFA ruling.
Fenerbahce lost both legs of the Champions League to Arsenal,5-0 on aggregate, and it would have been a puzzle for UEFA to solve, had they gone through and CAS upholds their suspension.
The Turkish side were due to drop down to the Europa League, but the ban extends in all European competitions and they are set to equally miss out on next season’s Champions League qualifiers.
A UEFA statement said: “The UEFA Emergency Panel will meet on Thursday afternoon to decide on the consequences the confirmed exclusion of Fenerbahce SK from the 2013-14 UEFA club competitions will have on the UEFA Europa League.”

Turkish Super League Wrap : Week 2

In the closing match of the second week , Besiktas won  in away match and stayed perfect after two weeks and moved on top of the Turkish Super League with six points..

They did it after coming behind and beating Kayseri Erciyes 2-4...

This was "most goal scored" match in the second week .....

Besiktas captured the first place after 144 weeks in the Turkish Super league!

Looking at the second week.....

While Fenerbahce, Besiktas,Trabzon won their matches ,Galatasaray  stopped by Bursaspor !

The new "wonder kid"  of  Turkish football , Enes Unal become the youngest goal scorer in the Turkish Super League scoring goal for Bursaspor .

Enes Unal who  is 16 years old , broke Batuhan Karadeniz's record....

Roberto Carlos's Sivasspor won in the second week and earn their first three points ..

His team will face his former team Fenerbahce this coming Saturday who is playing against Arsenal on Tuesday >>

That should be good match up...

In  Trabzon on Monday night Trabzonspor won their match against Rizespor but  Trabzon player Volkan Sen walked of the field crying after a verbal "absurd" abuse by few Trabzonspor fans !

While Trabzonspor coach Mustafa Akcay backed  Volkan Sen , Trabzonspor chairman Ibrahim Haciosmanoglu criticize Volkan Sen not being professional !

" I condone the fans swearing and using absurd slurs to Volkan but I can not accept Volkan Sen leaving
the pitch as professional player "

This has been the talk  around"water-cooler"  in Turkey!

Maluoda, came in for Volkan  Sen  and scored the winning goal for Trabzonspor !

Another notable mention in the second week , Drogba's gestures as he was sub out during the Bursa vs Galatasaray match !

Besiktas after two weeks is on top of the league with six points but this is long marathon ...

There are thirty two more weeks ....

That's is why  a lot of things could change...

But, Besiktas started the Super League in better place, Karabuk and Galatasaray are in top three with no loss with four points !

Besiktas, Karabuk and Galatasaray are the only teams who has not loss after two weeks...

Best Keeper.....

Mert Gunok of Fenerbahce .....

Lucky Keeper of the week....

Milan Borjan of Sivasspor ....

Best goal of the week.....

Maluoda (Trabzonspor)  or Babel(Kasimpasa) .....

Best player of the week......

Gokhan Tore (Besiktas ) and Dirk Kuyt of Fenerbahce ......

Best Team.....

Besiktas
