Turkey Wins The Friendly Match Against Azerbaijan

Turkish National soccer team scored two late goals to overcome Azerbaijan in an international friendly at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium.

The visitors battled well and looked like they might hold their opponents, ranked more than 100 places above them in FIFA's world standings, to a creditable goalless draw until Halil Altintop broke the deadlock with 20 minutes to go.

And within five minutes Turkey had doubled their advantage, Ibrahim Uzulmez slotting home to wrap up the victory.

FIFA.COM: "Black Eagles soar in Turkey"

The streets of Istanbul became a sea of black and white at the weekend as Besiktas fans in their tens of thousands riotously celebrated the Kara Kartallar's (Black Eagles) first Turkish league title in six years. The team coached by Mustafa Denizli had already won the domestic cup and thus became the first club to do the double since 2000. The feeling on the Bosporus now is that Besiktas are finally poised to stretch their wings and regain long-term parity with bitter city rivals Galatasaray and Fenerbahce.

"Winning the double is a great achievement and I’m overjoyed. It felt like a volcano erupting inside me,” Denizli gushed after the title-clinching 2-1 victory away to Denizlispor on the last day. "We’ve succeeded in bringing a long adventure to a happy conclusion," continued the 59-year-old, for whom the triumph means not one but two entries in the Turkish roll of honour: he is not only the first Turkish coach to lead Besiktas to glory, he is also the first to win the Super Lig with all three of Istanbul’s major clubs. "My team totally deserves their triumph,” the former Turkey international summed up.

Sivasspor miss out, Gala fall short
However, a real upset looked on the cards for a long spell in Turkey this season. Surprise package Sivasspor were never far from the headlines after leading the league for most of the last five months. A first championship triumph for a club from outside Istanbul since 1984 seemed on the cards, but coach Bulent Uygun’s valiant side ultimately ran out of steam on the home straight. In an ironic twist, it was Besiktas' fierce rivals Galatasaray who administered the coup de grace, as new Turkey superstar Arda Turan struck a brace on the last day to seal a 2-1 win over Sivasspor and hand the title to the Black Eagles.

At the end of the day, a extra touch of class made the difference, as Besiktas finished five points clear at the top, with more victories and fewer defeats than Sivasspor. Uygun and his men thus failed in their attempt to become only the fifth team outside the Istanbul triumvirate and Trapzonspor to claim Super Lig glory, but were consoled with second place and a shot at qualifying for the UEFA Champions League. Trabzonspor, Fenerbahce and Galatasaray took third, fourth and fifth respectively, and have to be satisfied with place in the newly-formed UEFA Europa League.

Winning the double is a great achievement and I’m overjoyed. It felt like a volcano erupting inside me.
Besiktas coach Mustafa Denizli
Of this trio, Gala were the most disappointing this term. The previous year’s champions lost seven times on their travels, including a 4-1 defeat to Fener and a 3-1 reverse against Besiktas. Their record of 39 goals against was easily the worst of the teams in the top seven, and they sneaked into Europe only by virtue of Fenerbahce’s 4-2 defeat to Besiktas in the cup final – Fener qualified for the Europa League on the basis of their league position.

A small consolation for the Lions of the Bosporus, who rate as the nation’s joint-most successful club alongside Fenerbahce with 17 league titles apiece, was that Milan Baros recaptured the form of his golden years and finished Super Lig top scorer on 20 goals. Aided and abetted by Harry Kewell, who enjoyed a productive first season in a Gala jersey, Baros provided moments to celebrate for the boisterous and excitable Ali-Sami-Yen stadium crowd, although everyone at the club realises it was still not enough. "There is just one place for Galatasaray and that is the number one position. If you don't get that, there is going to be a backlash,” Kewell exclusively told FIFA.com just a few weeks ago. A stormy summer beckons for the wounded Gala crew.

Dawn of a new era?
Konyaspor, Kocaelispor and Hacettepe proved unable to escape the relegation trapdoor, but Besiktas' 11th domestic title has raised hopes of a new era for the men in black and white. The media spotlight has fallen on Yusuf Simsek and Fabian Ernst as the orchestrators and architects of the latest triumph. "Our midfield, and particularly Simsek and Ernst, made a major contribution to our triumph. Both absolutely lived up to expectations,” commented coach Denizli.

Ernst, capped 24 times by Germany, switched to the Bosporus from Schalke during the winter break. "We’ve played good football, and we’ve made our fans happy,” reflected Ernst. The next step for the Black Eagles is success on the international stage, with the aim of matching the achievements of Galatasaray, UEFA Cup winners in 1999/2000, and Fenerbahce, UEFA Champions League quarter-finalists in 2007/08. With the expertise and cunning of Denizli at their disposal, Besiktas certainly appear to have exactly the right man in charge of their destiny.

BESIKTAS CHAMPIONS OF TURKEY

Besiktas coach Mustafa Denizli set a record in Turkey by winning the Turkish Title with three different Istanbul teams.

That is why he is the best coach in Turkey......

Besiktas clinched the Turkish Turkcell Super league title for the 11th time on Saturday with a 2-1 win away to Denizlispor, adding to their Turkish Cup success.
Slovak Filip Holosko opened the scoring for the Istanbul side in the 28th minute while Ibrahim Toraman extended the Black Eagles' lead in the 63rd minute with a superb long-range shot.

Brazilian Douglas Daniel Braga pulled one back for the home side in the 85th minute, but couldn't knock a superior Besiktas off their stride.
It has been a bitterly disappointing season for Besiktas' major Istanbul rivals Fenerbahce and Galatasaray, who have both won the title 17 times and who finished in
fourth and fifth place.

CHAMPIONSHIP SATURDAY IN TURKEY

It is the last Tango in the Turkish Turkcell Super League and It's the Championship Saturday too.

Turkcell Super League Leader Besiktas could clinch the title with a away win or a draw in Denizli.

Denizlispor who is safe by only goal average, would want to get at least a point from Besiktas to reach 39 points mark.

But, a draw might cost a problem for Besiktas if Sivasspor beats Galatasaray in Istanbul and scores three or more goals they could well capture the leagues Championship .

Could this happened?....

It could well be!...

This is very crucial weekend for Sivasspor!..

Not only, not winning the Championship , they could also lose the second place to Trabzonspor, if they lose against Galatasaray in Istanbul.

That is why, a win is a must for Sivasspor, not only hope for the championship also to retain the second place...

If they lose on Saturday it will be disaster for Sivasspor fans...

Instead of getting shot at the Champions League, they will end up in third place and they will end up in the newly formated Euro League qualification matches.

So, Turkcell Super League's top and bottom and the last weekend is very complicated!...

The team who is following Sivasspor , Trabzonspor will host This years most disappointed team Fenerbahce in Trabzon.

While Trabzonspor is at 65 point, Sivasspor is at 66 points.

The team who sits on top, Besiktas ,at 68 points...

FIRE AT THE BOTTOM STILL GOES ON....

At the bottom, Konyaspor and Antalyaspor will play life and death match on Saturday. Antalyaspor will be home against Ankaragucu while Konyaspor will hoat another Ankara team Ankaraspor.

Konyaspor has to beat Ankaraspor and look for a little help from Ankaragucu team.

In case of a draw in Antalyaspor v Ankaragucu match even Konyaspor wins at home they will be the team that will relegate to the Banka Asya Turkish First League next season.

Hacettepe and Kocaelispor already said good-bye to the Turkcell Super League ...

So, the long 34 week marathon, in the Turkish Turkcell Super league will come to end this Saturday.

The winners will be happy and the losers will be sad!.......

Besiktas One Step Closer To The Title.

Turkcell Super League Review...

Besiktas is one step closer heading into the final weekend of the Turkish Turkcell Super League season with a two-point lead after they beat Galatasaray 2-1.

Yusuf Simsek scored a valuable winner for his side on the hour mark after Australia international Harry Kewell (49) had canceled out a Deivson Bobo strike four minutes before half-time.

Sivasspor the other top contender, stayed in touch with a 3-2 win at home to Genclerbirligi.

Sivasspor had gone behind when James Troisi netted after 22 minutes and, while Genclerbirligi held that lead until the break, they would concede three times in 21 minutes after half-time.

Half-time substitute Yannick Kamanan got the ball rolling after 49 minutes before further goals from Herve Tum (60) and Murat Erdogan (66).

Jacques Momha (77) pulled a goal back but it was not enough.

Trabzonspor won 5-2 at Eskisehirspor to stay three points behind Besiktas, although a goal difference deficit of eight almost certainly rules out their title hopes.

They went some way to improving their goal difference tonight, however, with Ceyhun Gulselam (18, 63) and Alanzinho (39, 89) both scoring a brace to go with Umut Bulut's (78) solitary effort.

Doga Kaya (66) and Souleymane Youla (74) scored for Eskisehirspor.

Antalyaspor moved two points clear of the drop zone after they drew 0-0 with

Ankaraspor while third-from-bottom Konyaspor lost 4-2 at Fenerbahce.

Daniel Guiza (14, 17), Ugur Boral (38) and Roberto Carlos (40) had put Fener out of sight before consolation goals for Roman Kratochvil (75pen) and Branimir Poljac (90).

After losing to Fenerbahce, Konyaspor will be looking for miracles to stay in the league in the last weekend.

First, They have to beat Ankaraspor at home and than, hope, Ankaragucu beat Antalyaspor in Antalyaspor.

Antalyaspor has 37 points and Konyaspor has 35 points at the end of 33th week.

Ankaragucu recorded a resounding 3-0 win at home to Denizlispor with Silvino Joao Jaba (34), Mehmet Yilmaz (63) and Semavi Ozgur (67) on target.

In the other match, Gaziantepspor twice came from behind to draw 2-2 at Bursaspor.

Galatasaray Will Decide Who Will Be The Turkish Champion!

CAN BESIKTAS CLINCH THE TITLE THIS WEEKEND?....

Two weeks to go in the Turkish Turkcell Super League, the team ,who will have saying, in this race, will be Galatasaray .

Galatasaray playing this weekend on Sunday, against the League Leader Besiktas and than in the last weekend of the league, next weekend they will face Leagues another top contender Sivasspor in Istanbul.

So , Galatasaray will decide who will be the Champions of Turkey this season, since they can't make it to there!...

If Besiktas Beat Galatasaray on this Sunday , Besiktas will be one step closer to the title, in my opinion.

But, In case of crash, this could spell danger for Besiktas.

While Besiktas will be playing a Istanbul derby match Second place Sivasspor will host a team who is desperate for points , Genclerbirlgi.

This match will be close one too...

If Sivasspor wants to keep the pressure on Besiktas they have to win this home match

There is no if or buts about it....

Most of the matches will be played on Sunday except one match, Kayserispor v Hacettepe.

That match will be on Saturday.......

All the sunday matches will start at same time(20:00) Turkish local time.

Can Besiktas do it and clinch the Turkish Turkcell Super League Title...

That is up to first Mustafa Denizli's Besiktas team!...

If they play as a team and they have a desire to win they will do it...

But, like I said , Galatasaray holds the Championship cards in this last two wekends.

It will not be easy....

FIRE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE LEAGUE....

Just think, the team who is in 9th place with 40 points Ankaraspor will be listening the news will come from Fenerbahce v Konyasspor match on Sunday.

If Konyaspor goes down in Sukru Saracoglu Stadium against Fenerbace , they will most likely the third team will relegate from the Turkcell Super league.

That is why this match is very important to Konyaspor and the other teams too.

Konyaspor have 35 points and there is a lot of team between 35 points and 40 points.

A win for Konyaspor against Fenerbahce will shake and rattle the bottom of the league.

This has to be the match of the week in my opinion!...

Early in the week, Konyaspor team sacked Giray Bulak, and rehired their former coach Unal Karaman!..

So, The top and the bottom of the league, might just shape up after this Sunday...

Or, it will go down to the wire in the last weekend of the season....

Lastly, Eskisehirspor who is fighting for their life in the league after beating Konyaspor in Konya last weekend, The players from this team were protesting the team officials about not getting paid in the last eight weeks!...

They ended their protest on Friday, I wonder , if they got paid!...

It is Absurd and it is stupid ,to call these teams, Professionals teams!..

This is what happens, when politics gets involved in any sport in Turkey....

Here is the matches for 33th week in the Turkcell Super League....
