IT'S FENERBAHCE'S TURN TO BE ON TOP!

Let me say it again....Turkcell Super League has not seen a race like this in the history of Turkey's soccer history!...

Seven weeks left in the League and we have four potential contenders for the top spot....This is first time....Before it was either two or three never four.....

If you remember my old posts on this blog, I have said Sivasspor was for real in this League and they proved me right!...They are for real....
What is so interesting in this weekend matches is Besiktas the team who was in first place went to fourth place after losing against Istanbul B.B.Spor......

We all know Besiktas has a big problem on defense...we talked about this before..
I can not understand why young Rookie coach Ertugrul Saglam can't see this!...

He already lost the Turkish Fortis Cup run , If he does not finish on top or second place at the end of season , it will be all over for him ...he will bite the dust!.

He was the one who wanted all those transfers for defense ..they are all been bust..

Besiktas will have though two week coming up first, this weekend a big Derby match against Fenerbahce in Their home turf than, following weekend they will face Sivasspor in Sivas. If they don't step up and play , they will be out of this race in my opinion!...Next two weeks will be really cruatual for Besiktas.

On the other Hand , Fenerbahce, the team who captured the top spot on Saturday, won the match against League's last place team Kasimpasaspor in the last fifteen minutes of the match...Turkey's top goal scorer and super sub Semih Senturk scored a goal and Alex and Kezman also scored for Fenerbahce.

So, At the end of the 27th week, Fenerbahce shares the top spot with Galatasaray after Galatasaray winning in the last seconds of the match against Denizlispor on Sunday. They both have 60 points. Third place Sivasspor have 58 points and fourth place Besiktas also have 58 points.

Here is the Sunday Recap in the Turkcell Super League.....

A last-gasp Servet Cetin goal saw Galatasaray snatch a 2-1 win over Denizlispor to move level on points with Super Lig leaders Fenerbahce.

Hasan Yigit gave the visitors a surprise lead on 24 minutes before Okan Buruk equalised just after the half-hour mark and Cetin pounced on 88 minutes to give Galatasaray all three points.

Three goals in six minutes saw Sivasspor beat Konyaspor 3-0 to move top within two points of the top two.

Ivan Cvetkov broke the deadlock on 74 minutes and half-time substitute Ugur Yildirim doubled Sivasspor's advantage three minutes later before Mehmet Yildiz sealed the victory.

MEXICAN SOCCER PLAYER Antonio De Nigris SCORE TWO GOALS AND STAYS IN THE RACE FOR TOP SCORER.........

Ankaraspor put a bit of daylight between themselves and the relegation zone as they triumphed 3-1 at fellow strugglers Genclerbirligi.

Antonio De Nigris put the visitors in front after 33 minutes and doubled his and his side's tally shortly after half-time.

Mehmet Nas pulled one back for his side on 79 minutes but a last-minute goal by Murat Tosun sealed Ankaraspor's second away win of the season to see them move two points away from the drop zone.

Caykur Rizespor occupy the last relegation spot but still have hopes of securing safety after holding ninth-placed Ankaragucu to a goaless draw.

Umut Bulut scored at either end of the match to snatch a late victory for Trabzonspor in their clash with Kayserispor.

The visitors were 13 points above Trabzonspor in fifth place but the hosts got off to the best start as Bulut opened the scoring in the sixth minute.

Leonardo Iglesias grabbed one back for Kayserispor just after the hour mark, but Bulut's second two minutes from time gave Trabzonspor all three points to send them to sixth in the table.

Czech Republic coach Karel Bruckner to resign after Euro 2008

Czech Republic coach Karel Bruckner will retire from soccer after this year's European Championship.

The 68-year-old Bruckner said he will end his coaching career after the tournament. His team is in a first-round group with Switzerland, Turkey and Portugal. "I've decided to retire after the championship," Bruckner said Thursday while announcing his squad for a friendly at Denmark next week.

"Thirty-four years of coaching are 34 years," Bruckner said. "That was enough."

He said he did not plan to lead the national squad against England in a friendly match scheduled for Aug. 20 at Wembley.

"I won't be involved in that match," Bruckner said.

Bruckner took over from Josef Chovanec after the Czechs failed to qualify for the 2002 World Cup, and has led the country to all major international tournaments since.

When Bruckner took command, he rebuilt a fractious squad with low morale to create what many observers have said is the most exciting Czech side ever.

Bruckner changed the team's defensive style into an attacking approach highly appreciated by fans, and good results followed.

At the 2004 European Championship, the Czechs won accolades for their flee-flowing, attacking soccer which brought surprise victories over Germany and the Netherlands during a run to the semifinals.

The Czech Republic then qualified for its first World Cup as an independent nation and two years later reached another European Championship, which it opens on June 7 in Basel against co-host Switzerland.

"It would a success to advance from the group," Bruckner said Thursday.

Bruckner has won 47 and lost just 10 of his 69 matches in charge, although he didn't lead the team for last month's friendly against Poland because he was ill.

No replacement was immediately announced.

Bruckner coached several Czech and Slovak clubs since the 1970s, including a notable run to the 1992 UEFA Cup quarter-finals with Olomouc.
