Ben Foster is set to deputise for Edwin Van der Sar between the sticks for Manchester United when they welcome Besiktas to Old Trafford in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday.
The Premier League champions could all but seal top spot in Group B with a win over the Turks having sewn up qualification to the last-16 with the 3-3 draw against CSKA Moscow last time out.
Despite recently voicing his concern at being relegated to third choice with the Red Devils, Foster is expected to be given the nod ahead of Tomasz Kuszczak to start by Sir Alex Ferguson.
Foster, 26, began the season as United's No.1 with Van der Sar sidelined by injury, but a number of high-profile errors, most notably in the Manchester derby and the in the 2-2 draw with Sunderland, has seen his stock fall.
But with veteran custodian Van der Sar picking up a knee problem against Everton at the weekend, Foster is expected to be given another chance to shine after his solid showing in England's recent 1-0 loss to Brazil.
Meanwhile, Dimitar Berbatov could return to the starting XI having been sidelined for the last few weeks with a knee injury forcing him to miss the games against Chelsea and Everton.
However, the precocious Bulgarian hitman trained on Tuesday and could be considered fit enough to feature against the Turks.
Despite Berbatov, United have a number of injury problems in defence with Rio Ferdinand (calf) and Jonny Evans (calf) definitely ruled out, while John O'Shea, Gary Neville and Brazilian full-back Fabio were all absent from training.
