EKREM DAG: BESIKTAS MEAN BUSINESS

Besiktas' Austria international Ekrem Dag has warned the Turkish club expect to claim all three points from their Europa League trip to Rapid Vienna on Thursday.

Besiktas are in good form at present having gone unbeaten in six games in a run that included a 1-0 success over CSKA Sofia in their Group L opener a fortnight ago.

By contrast Rapid have struggled since they produced the shock of the final qualification round when they dumped out Aston Villa.

The capital club lost four consecutive games before their late 3-2 win over struggling Kapfenberg at the weekend.

They were also thrashed 3-0 in the Europa League opener by Porto and Dag, who will sit out the match with a toe injury, expects his visiting team to secure victory.

"We normally should win. The quality of our squad is very high," said Dag, who made his Austria debut earlier this year.

"A club with such a strong squad must make clear the only goal can be to make it into the knockout stage.

"Besiktas come to Vienna not to take one but three points. But we must not underestimate Rapid because they pulled off something extraordinary by kicking out Aston Villa."

Besiktas should be boosted by the return of veteran playmaker Guti, who missed the weekend's 2-1 win over Antalyaspor, while tricky Portuguese winger Ricardo Quaresma is also set to start after only coming on as a substitute against CSKA.

Rapid boss Peter Pacult is wary of the star names in the visiting line-up, but believes his side will face an easier task than their opener away to Porto.

"At Besiktas there are many quality players, but we will be playing in front of a sell-out crowd and that will help us step up our game," he said.

"When we went to Porto you could see that other nations are more secure on the ball, more peaceful than us.

"But Porto is certainly a step up from Besiktas."

Speaking about the possible return of former Real Madrid midfielder Guti, he added: "Physically he may not be the player that he once was, but his key strength is his eye for certain situations.

"Even if he is not the youngest, his quality is indisputable."

Rapid will still be without their own playmaker with Markus Heikkinen still recovering from meningitis while Stefan Kulovits is a doubt with an ankle injury.

Rangers v Bursaspor 1-0 Highlights

Rangers at home beat Turkey's Bursaspor. with Steven Naismith's lone goal, 1-0 .

This was their first Champions League success in three long years.

On th other hand Bursaspor still looking for their first point and goal in the Champions League.

Bursaspor in their first Champions League campaign, are already cast in the role of whipping boys and Naismith's 18th minute strike looks to have largely confirmed the group as a three-horse race for qualification.

Bursapor rarely threatened, with their final glimmer of hope being a dangerously-positioned free kick in the last seconds that was easily cleared by the staunch Rangers defense.

Sercan Yildirim was the closest to finding an equaliser with a volley that flew just wide of Allan McGregor's goal.

Bursaspor suffered a 4-0 defeat at home to Valencia in their first ever Champions League match and with no points from their opening two games, their hopes of progression are undeniably bleak already.

Coach Ertugrul Saglam, feels his side are showing signs that they can be quick learners at this level.

"Our second-half performance is an indication of how we're able to perform in this competition.

"We're a very inexperienced team and it's our first time in Europe for about 30 years but we are starting to find the rhythm of the Champions League."

Bursaspor will not were Celtic uniform!

No green-and-white hooped strip, uniforms for Bursaspor at Ibrox...

Bursaspor coach Ertugrul Saglam will not inflame the situation ahead of their Champions League clash at Rangers.

Bursaspor will not wear their green-and-white hooped strip, similar to that of the Govan club's Old Firm rivals Celtic.

Instead, the visitors will settle for an 'Ajax style' outfit in the club's traditional colours.

Coach of Bursaspor Ertugrul Saglam said: "We we will wear our Ajax-type strip, the same as we did against Valencia.

"We expect to see controlled aggression from our players but there is no need to increase tension in important matches such as this.

"Last year, we didn't win only the league title but also the Fair Play league. We believe in those principles.

"We want to play hard and play to the maximum with controlled aggression, but without any unnecessary provocation. That is our way."

On the other hand, Rangers manager Walter Smith insists Bursaspor should not be written off simply because they are one of the lesser known teams in the Champions League this season.

Smith said,"If we were playing Galatasaray or Fenerbahce or Besiktas, then everyone would say it would be a really difficult game. Bursaspor have shown to be better than those sides over the last year or so and that's the standard they are at."

He also said, "They lost their first game at home to Valencia, I watched the game and it wasn't a game that you would say was a 4-0 game."

BURSASPOR OPENS THE GAP ON TOP OF TURKISH SUPER LEAGUE

Turkey' defending Champions Bursaspor made it five in a row, not counting the last weekend match.

They are still the only team with perfect record in the Turkish SPOR TOTO Super league after the sixth week....

On Friday, Bursaspor beat Bucaspor with only one goal but managed to walk out of the field with that score at the end of the match....

Bursaspor's goal came by Huseyin Cimsir in the fourth minute of the match....

Huseyin Cimsir has not scored a goal, since 2008 season in the Turkish Super League!

Bursaspor coach Ertugrul Saglam, made some gutsy moves and not started his starting keeper Ivankov after he was disappointed him against Valencia match...

He gave the starting job to young Turkish keeper Yavuz Ozkan....

He played good, except a couple mass up in the second half of the match...

Ertugrul Saglam also rested his starters because of Glasgow Rangers match in the Champions League match this coming Wendsday...

After this win, Bursaspor open the gap on top of the Turkish Super League..

Bursaspor with perfect record has 15 points and one game in the bank!

As I said in my 6th weekend preview article, this weekend matches, will be very hard fought matches...

Istanbul's big three's are feeling the heat from the Anatolian teams now!

Bursaspor will travel to Scotland to play in their second match in the Champions League against Rangers team...

Although Bursaspor havingg perfect record in Turkish League, they are not looking good in the Champions League!

After losing to Valencia at home with big score , they would need to at least get a draw in Scotland against Rangers...

Gaziantepspor team issued stadium closure after linesman hit by object from stands.

Turkish football federation has issued a one-match stadium closure on Gaziantepspor

after fans threw objects onto the field that hit a linesman in the head during a league game.

The disciplinary board ruled Thursday that Gaziantepspor play one game on neutral venue and without spectators. The punishment comes four days after the incident

forced a league match against Bursaspor to be abandoned. Bursaspor was leading 1-0.
The linesman required stitches to his head. It was not clear what hit him.

The outcome of the match will be decided by Turkish football federation soon.

what do you think ?

They should replay this match where it is left off?

Or should they punisg Gazinatep and give three points to Bursaspor?

TURKISH SUPER LEAGUE WEEK: 6 ,PREVIEW

Bursaspor kicks off week six......

The 6th weekend opens with Turkish Super League Leader Bursaspor against Bucasspor on Friday night in Bursa, Turkey.

The top team in the league , closed the 5th weekend after referee called off the match in Gazinatep because of linesman getting hit on a head with a object after Bursaspor scored a goal.Turkish Football Federation will make a decision soon .

So. The top team Bursaspor having one match on hand still front of Trabzon,Besiktas and Kayserispor with 2 points...

With a win on Friday night in Bursa with a home crowd , they could open the gap to 5 point!

Bucaspor is the new kid on the block ....

They won only one match in five matches and tied two and lost two...

They are brand new team and trying to be a total team!

Turkey's only team in the UEFA's Champions League competition, Bursaspor will have Rangers match on their mind too.

Bursaspor will play their second CL match on September 29th in Glasgow , Scotland against Rangers team.

Bursaspor should pass Bucaspor easily, but Bucaspor has some scoring powers!

Bucasspor's two losses were against Besiktas and Galatasaray with narrow margin scores...

In the last five matches, Bucaspor only scored 4 goals and allowed 4 goals...

On the other hand , Champions Bursaspor, scored 7 goals in 4 matches not counting the last week's goal and allowed only one goal...

Friday’s Bursaspor v Bucaspor match will start at 8 p.m.local time (13:00 ET)

SATURDAY.....

On Saturday there are three matches in the league...

In Ankara, two of the Ankara's teams Ankaragucu and Genclerbirligi will face each other..

Ankaragucu has 7 points in 5 matches while Gencler has only 5 points in five matches

This will be hard fought match between two clubs...

Also on Saturday , Eskisehirspor will host Gaziantepspor in the 6th week...

Eskisehirspor has only 2 points and they are second from bottom of the barrel!

Gaziantep also is hurting for points too..

Just like the match in Ankara this match will be hard fought match too..

Saturday's other match will be between Besiktas and Antalyaspor in Istanbul..

Besiktas has to win this match...

On the other hand Antalyaspor, will not be easy team to beat..

Antalyaspor earned 8 points in the last five matches in the league!

Besiktas sit on third place with 10 points,,

With a win they could well be on top of the league if Bursaspor does not win on Friday night..........

Sunday.....

There are four matches on Sunday and all of the four matches will be "crunch time" games!

Here is why....

Kayseri at home against Trabzonspor.........

They both have 10 points!

Galatasaray will host Istanbul BuyukSehir .....

They both have 9 points!

Manisaspor v Sivasspor...................

Manisa have only 3 points while Sivasspor have 5 points...

Konyaspor v Karabukspor match will also be very important match for Konyaspor to get out the danger zone in the league!

But, Karabukspor who has 9 points would want to win this match to stay on top, also!

With high power scoring machine, Emmanuel Emenike, look for Karbukspor to win this match...

Sunday matches, will probably be the most exciting matches of all of them....

Just look at the line up.....

Second place team Trabzonspor will face fourth place team Kayserispor ,with 10 points in Kayseri!

Fifth place team BuyukSehir, who has 9 points will face seventh place Galatasaray who has same points in Ali Samiyen Stadium !

These two matches and Konyaspor v Karabukspor match, will change out come of the standings on top!

The winner will move on losers will stall and a draw will keep all of them same..

Turkish SPOR TOTO Super League will close on Monday night in Istanbul, with Kasimpasa- Fenerbahce match.

The last place team Kasimpasa, who has only 2 points in the last five matches will face 9th place team Fenerbahce...

Fenerbahce with a win against Kasimpasa could reach to 10 points....

This could well be turning point for Fenerbahce and under-fire coach Aykut Kocaman!

Kasimpasa, is very week but they seem to play better against Fenerbahce all the time..

So, The 6th weekend matches will be hard fought matches......

Starting from Friday night with Bursaspor and ending on Monday night with Fenerbahce

matches all the point hungry teams will try to win their matches but, we should not
under estimate, the underdogs, this weekend!

TURKISH SUPER LEAGUE WEEK: 5, REVIEW

As I mentioned in my preview article, there were many surprises and ugly scenes in the Turkish SPOR TOTO Super league too!

Last week, Turkish soccer was rocked by a bad news, coach getting stab during the match in the first division match in Turkey....

On Monday, all of the foreign media, was letting world know about the incident in Gazinatep !

The bad news travels pretty fast when this happens in Turkey....

The New York times even had carried the news...here is the New York Times news...

"A linesman in Gaziantep, Turkey, was injured when he was hit in the head by objects thrown onto the field, forcing a league match between Bursaspor and Gaziantepspor to be abandoned. The Turkish Football Federation said it was investigating."

I am very sorry to start to review of the 5th weekend with this ugly indecent...

But, All the world news agencies are talking about this ugly incident!

When this is going to stop in Turkish soccer?

******************************

Now the review of the weekend......

Three team had a shot to claim the leagues top spot from Bursaspor, but they could not do it despite the match between Gazinatep and Bursaspor did not finish because of ugly incident after the ref called the match off!

On Friday Trabzon had a chance but they lost to the team that had zero points coming in to the match...

Instead, Trabzon lost at home with huge score against Manisaspor.

This was Manisaspor's first three points and win in the league...

With a new hired coach and last years leading goal scorer Makakula coming to Manisaspor, gave a fresh blood to the team.....

Makakula scored two while Canadian international player Josh Simpson scored one for Manisa...

Trabzonsspor only goal came by their midfielder Selcuk Inan....

Trabzonspor missed a very important chance to go on top with this loss!

On Saturday, Kayserispor had a chance to grab the lead but they also could not do it!

Kayserispor went down in Antalya against Medikal Park Antalyaspor with 2-1 score...

On Sunday, after Trabzon and Kayserispor pass the plate, Besiktas could not get a win in the derby match against Fenerbahce too..

They were lucky and smart to tied the match to collect one point.....

But, that was not enough to capture the top spot in the league...

In the derby match ,Besiktas looked very bad in the first half....

Huge mistake by Besiktas keeper Hakan Arikan and Besiktas defense, cost them a goal!

Fenerbahce's new transfer Mamadou Niang , scored the goal for Fenerbahce...

Fenerbahce just could not get the second goal after the first goal....

Fenerbahçe found more chances to increase it's lead but they could not do it..

That cost them the win in this match...

Coach Aykut Kocaman's wrong player subs did not help this too....

Taken Alex out of the match was wrong on his part!

In the second half Besiktas looked better the whole second half....

Besiktas coach made a smart move and put tall striker Bobo in to the match...

And that paid off for Besiktas and Because of Bobo, Besiktas earned penalty kick..

After Fenerbahce keeper Volkan Demirel brought down ,Bobo in the box , the referee called the penalty kick and Guti took the penalty and he scored...

In this match, Besiktas keeper Hakan Arikan left the field on a stretcher with a concussion and young Cenk Gonen took his place...

A draw was good for Besiktas but not good for Fenerbahce.....

After the match Kocaman said "Seven points in five games, that is definitely undesirable. I don’t think any Fenerbahçe fans can accept that.”

Also on Sunday,Karabuk thrashed Genclerbirligi 3-0, thanks to Emmanuel Emenike, while Istanbul BuyukSehir beat Konyaspor with one goal.

Galatasaray wins their back to back third match....

On Sunday Galatasaray , after losing the first two matches in the league they manage to win their last three matches with narrow scores!

They did that again in Izmir on Sunday...

They beat Bucaspor with midfielder Ayhan Akman’s goal ....

Galatasaray climb to seventh place in the Turkish Super League...

Elsewhere on Sunday, Sivasspor drew Eskisehirspor 1-1, Ankaragucü defeated Kasımpasa 3-0

UGLY MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL............

Turkish Super league's top team Bursaspor traveled to Gaziantep to play Gazinatepspor on a Monday night football match, but the match was stopped by referee, after linesman was injured .

The incident occurred after Bursaspor scored against home team Gaziantepspor in the 56th minute to lead 1-0.

Bursaspor is the only teams who represent Turkey in the Champions League this season.

So, while all of the teams played their fifth weekend matches, Bursaspor and Gaziantep has to wait for the decison to come form Turkish Football federation...

You could bet your bottom dollars, Bursaspor will earn thee points out of this match!

Bursaspor still on top of the Turkish Spor Toto Super League with 12 points despite the Monday night match that did not finish...

This coming Friday, Bursaspor will host Bucaspor at home in the 6th weekend opining match...

If Bursaspor beats Bucaspor at home ,they will still be on top of the Turkish Super League...

FENERBAHCE 1 - 1 BESIKTAS FULL HIGHLIGHTS [GENIS OZET] HD 19 EYLUL 2010

FENERBAHCE AND BESIKTAS SHARE TH POINTS IN KADIKOY, ISTANBUL.....

Guti's late penalty denied Fenerbahce all three points, but it was not enough to give Besiktas a share of first place in the Turkish Super League...

Mamadou Niang opened the scoring after 26 minutes for Fener, a lead which they held for an hour before Guti converted from the spot to earn his side a point.

A win would have taken Besiktas level with Bursaspor at the top of the table but, as it is, the leaders will take a two-point cushion into their game in hand at Gaziantepspor tomorrow.

TURKISH SUPER LEAGUE WEEK 5 ,PREVIEW

Turkish "SPORTOTO" Super League will start the fifth week with a bang and will end the weekend on Monday with a bang too!

The second place Trabzonspor will open the weekend on Friday, at home against Manissaspor ,the team who is desperate for points, after they sacked their old coach and hired well know retread coach Hikmet Karaman.

But, a win will put Trabzonspor on on top of the Turkish Super League with 13 points until Monday night, when Bursaspor will face Gaziantep, in away match!

Perhaps, The biggest match of the 5th weekend, will take place in Kadikoy, between Fenerbahce and Besiktas..

Fenerbahce have been struggling in the Turkish league after disaster matches in Europe.

On the other hand, Besiktas, who is the only team that advanced to the Euro Group matches from Turkey, just came out of, very important match against CSK Sofia on Thursday, with a last minute struck!

Besiktas has the morale.....................

But, Fenerbahce will have the 12th man advantage in Kadikoy....

As far as the teams as a "Total Football Team," Besiktas looks better, on a paper..

Fenerbahce's former General Manager now coach Aykut Kocaman, is under fire ...

This will be very crucial match for him!

A win against Besiktas will only delay his departure....

A loss will cost him his job!

If Fenerbahce wins on Sunday they will be right behind Besiktas with 9 points..

A draw will be good for Besiktas....

On Saturday, There are four matches in the Turkish Super League...

Galatasaray will travel to Izmir, to play Bucaspor and third place team Kayserispor who is same points with Trabzonspor , will face Antalyaspor in Antalya.

Also on Saturday, Sivasspor will host Eskisehirspor and Ankaragucu will be home against Kasimpasa...

If we sum up the Saturday's preview, Galatasaray with a win could be right back in the race a loss of points will cost Galatasaray!

They need a big win in Izmir on Saturday.....

Kayserispor with a win, could capture the second place or first place depending on what will Trabzonspor do on Friday night...

Keep in mind, the other teams playing on Saturday are desperate for points this could be very "Upset Saturday" scores in the league.....

On Sunday, Karabuk will face Genclerbirligi at home and Istanbul BuyukSehir will host Konyaspor in a empty stadium with no fans!

As I mentioned before, Sunday's Derby match will take place between Fenerbahce and Besiktas too...

On Monday, Bursaspor will close the curtain in away match, against Gazinatepspor...

After horrible score and loss in the Champions League match Bursaspor will try to rebound....

But as many teams in the league Gazinatepspor is also desperate for points in the league too..

It will be very though match for Bursaspor on Monday night in Gaziantep...

If they win, they will still hold on to the lead with a perfect record in the Turkish SPOR TOTO Super League..

Could they do it?....

It will be very hard.....

Look for a lot of surprise scores in the league this weekend.

HISTORY WILL TAKE PLACE IN BURSA,TURKEY

Bursaspor vs Valencia preview.....

First ever UEFA's Champions League match for city of Bursa ,Turkey and Bursaspor and their fans....

The city of Bursa will welcome Valencia team in their first match....

Bursaspor have played only eight European matches, have won just two, have lost all their last four without scoring and have failed to score in six of their eight games.

They last played in the 1986-87 Cup Winners Cup when they lost home and away to Ajax Amsterdam in the first round.

Valencia lost on their last visit to Turkey, going down 1-0 to Genclerbirligi in the 2003-04 Uefa Cup .

Bursaspor may not have the European history of the other teams in their group, but Valencia coach Unai Emery insists his side will not be treating them lightly.

"They were a little-known team, but the champions of the Turkish league are no longer that. We have the utmost respect for them. With all that we've seen we feel they are a great team," said Emery.

Valencia have Turkish midfielder Mehmet Topal, who should know plenty about Bursaspor having spent the last four seasons at Turkish giants Galatasaray before switching to Spain this summer.

The Turkey international said: "The Bursaspor fans will be their 12th player, they keep going throughout the match, but there's no need to take this as a disadvantage, only that Valencia will have to go out and do their jobs to win.

"Bursaspor have good players but the squad is very good, we need to take care with the whole team, not any specific individual."

Topal added: "All the teams in the Champions League are very strong, but Valencia would like to get through the group and we will do everything we can to win."

Bursaspor coach ERtugrul Saglam's remarks.....

"Valencia have been strong at European level for many years and they won't be easy opponents. They lost some important players from last season but replaced them with new ones and as far as we can see from the analysis, they are a 'system team' who can play good team football. It'll be an extremely competitive game and Valencia can be seen as favourites but we want to make a bright start. The favourites do not win all the time and we'll try to show this. We'll face Valencia without changing the system which took us to success last season.

You need to have physical abilities in order to win games like this and we have this quality. We'll use this as an advantage tomorrow. When you look at Valencia, there are talented players like Joaquín Sánchez, Vicente Rodríguez, Juan Mata and Aritz Aduriz. When you look at us, you see Ozan İpek, Pablo Batalla, Sercan Yıldırım, Federico Insúa and Ivan Ergić. In my eyes, they have the same quality. "

He went on to say, “We want to make a good start to the Champions League. We want to represent our country well in that tournament, since we are the only Turkish outfit in the competition. And we want to get our first points in that match.”

Can they do it?

They have a great chance to start this historical day in front of their own fans..

I believe they could do it , if they believed in it...

COME BACK WIN FOR TURKEY

"MY PLAYER OF THE MATCH" HAMIT ALTINTOP...ONE GOAL AND ONE ASSIST......

Belgium started and Turkey put the finisihing touches in EURO 2012 qualifying match on Tuesday night In Istanbul Turkey.

A late goal from Arda Turan helped Turkey 3-2 win over Belgium ....

Turkey' first attack on Belgium came on the 16th minute but, Tuncay Sanli missed a header!

Belgium scored the first goal of the match in the 28th minute by Daniel Van Buyten Thanks to big mistake by Turkish young keeper Onur KIvrak.

The first half of the match ended with Turkey being down one goal against Belgium.

But, things did change for Hiddink's Turkey in the second half....

After pep talk by Hiddink at the half and bring in super sub Semih Senturk in to the match made a huge difference....

In the very early minutes of the second half in the 48th minute Hamit Altintop even the scored ...

Than super sub Semih Senturk , scored the second goal in the 66th minute on a Hamit Altintop's cross

But, Belgium came right back to tie the match in the 69th minute again huge mistake by Turkish keeper Onur Kivrak.

Daniel Van Buyten scored his and his teams second goal of the match...

But. like I said. in the beginning my article , in the 78th minute of the match, Arda Turan's goal gave Turks the lead 3-2..

Belgium was man down after the 66th minute of match when Vincent Kompany received his second yellow card of the match...

HIddink's new journey with Turkey started back to back two wins in the Euro 2012 qualifying campaign .

After Germany, Turkey is the second place with same points in the Group A

Belgium after suffering another loss , they are pointless in the group!

This is good thing for Turkey....

Next up for Turkey is Germany...

This will be huge match for both teams....

As we all know Germany has two German born Turkish players ....Mesut Ozil and Serdar Tasci.

Lastly, Hiddink is trying to change some things in Turkey...

First mentally of players and getting them ready to the next big level.

The question is will they keep listening the world famous coach Guus Hidink?

The reason why I say that, there are still huge problems on the defense and in the goal....

The crosses are huge thread for Turkish National team...

If we remember the two goals that were scored by Belgium were on crosses!

Lastly, If you want to win the matches you have to have experience goalkeepers...

Turkey might not be lucky as they were against Belgium in every match!

It was good win but , like Hiddink said , it was not that pleasant!
